- Pages from Baseball's Past by Craig Wright - Baseball Between the Numbers by Nate Silver If you like or want to know more of the small oddities of baseball I would recommend Pages from Baseball's Past. For some of you older baseball fans, you may remember a pre-game radio show by that same name. It's the same guy only he now does the stories via internet subscription. The book is a compilation of a bunch of the most interesting stories. Very short and easy to read each one. If you get into math and numbers behind baseball, Nate Silver's Baseball Between the Numbers gives a bunch of interesting premises like "Does batting order matter" and then explores them statistically.

I would also add that not having Buxton in center for much of the season does make a difference on pitcher's ERA as well. For reference, Buxton played 140 games last season, but only 28 this season. I know our other players are good, but sometimes Buxton makes a play nobody else does.

That's kind of why I said, take it for what it's worth...but Crasnick getting into the fold does add a little more credence to the story.

Take it for what it's worth, but it appears that the market for Dozier is at least warm this morning. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/07/brian-dozier-twins-trade.html

So hitting .311/.403/.442 with 8 HR, 56 RBI, and a 45/48 BB/K ratio (De La Trinidad) is meh...What do you think is good?

According to mlb's site Duran and Maciel are top 20 prospects (#19 & #11 respectively) for the D-Backs, and Fangraphs has them at #14 & #15 respectively. Add in the throw in of De La Trinidad and I don't think it's an awful return for a rental.

Looks like they interviewed a few GMs in the Midwest League, and Kirilloff and Lewis are mentioned more than a couple times. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/broadcasters-view-who-have-been-the-top-players-in-the-midwest-league/

1.) Where are you from? I'm from Granstsburg, WI, grew up in Eau Claire, WI and now live in Osseo, WI 2.) Age Range? 30 3.) What brought you to Twins Daily? I'm not sure what originally brought me here, but I'm sure I was just searching around from some Twins info or a decent Twins site and kind of stumbled across it. 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Played Varsity and Legion ball through high school. 5.) Favorite Twins Player, and favorite underappreciated Twins player, and if you want, favorite current Twins player? Favorite player has to be Kirby Puckett...Underappreciated player I can't just pick one, but I think Guzman, Jacque Jones, and early Marty Cordova were some of my favorites growing up. Current player is probably Berrios. 6.) Favorite non-Twins Daily site/authors? Fangraphs, the Athletic and all their writers are probably my mainstays now. 7.) Favorite Twitter follows? Not on Twitter 8.) Other interests outside of baseball. All sports in general, camping, hiking, bird hunting, and technology/computers. 9.) Favorite part of Twins Daily... forums, blogs, articles, topics... whatever you like. Everything here is great. Love the discussion and different viewpoints. All the main topics are covered from the majors to the minors to everything in between. 10.) Tell us what we can do better. What features or other topics would you like to see in-season or out of season? Doing great, I have no suggestions at this time. 11.) Have you been to any of the Twins Daily "events?" No

It looks like Alex Kirilloff and Lewis Thorpe made the Futures Game rosters for the US and World teams respectively. Congrats to those guys! https://www.mlb.com/news/2018-futures-game-rosters-revealed/c-284471810

Don't forget about Pineda too. The Twins gave him a 2 year deal when they signed him, with the expectation of pitching in 2019. I doubt he would be traded because he won't pitch much this year if at all, but he does have 1 year left as well.

Yup, here is the link to the rules from mlbtraderumors: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/process-for-signing-prospects-stripped-from-braves.html

Here is another one by Sullivan about the Twins as a whole: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/something-in-minnesota-has-clicked/

I'd also like to add, looking at his statistics, Rooker has about a 22% K rate at Elizabethton right now; which while not fantastic, is also really not that far off from what he did at Mississippi St. this past year when he had 19% K rate for the season. This is what Rooker is. I'd also add, that again a 20% K rate is not great, It's not in the realm of former Twin, Adam Brett Walker, who had a 31% K rate in Elizabethton and continued that trend through the system.

I'm in the bucket of wait and see as well. I'm not about shopping all our guys, but I would certainly be looking at a couple of teams and see if they have any interest. The Astros are a good pick to look at for Santana, but I would also throw out the Yankees. They have been struggling of late, especially with pitching. A guy I could see targeted is Justus Sheffield. Former first round pick of the Indians that came over in the Miller trade. He's not the Yankees top pitching prospect (according to MLB), and he is having a nice season in AA (7-5, 3.09 ERA).

Yesterday there was a post about Super Deep Sleeper Prospects and what KATOH projects for them for 2017. Although currently on the DL, at the top of the 2B list was Luis Arraez, who also happened to have the highest projection out of all the players mentioned. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/katoh-projects-super-deep-sleeper-prospects-2/

What is the long term plan for Pinto? With Mauer manning first base, and assuming Vargas continues to hit well, he seems to be the odd man out. And with a couple solid catchers a year or two away, do the Twins try to move him?
