  1. It wasn't a dumb play. He made a error. As soon as he picked up the ball it was clear to everyone watching that it was too late to get the runner at home, so he flipped the ball to first. It meant nothing. Nothing. It was an error at the worst possible time, on a ball most high school players would have caught easily, and it disgusted me.
  2. If I were running the world: 1) K. 2) DP 3) Sano 4) 1-2-3
  3. Yankees fans are booing an intentional walk. Very belilgerant fans.
  4. Perk wasn't good in August and September last year either. The manager, pitching coach, and front office have to know this.
  5. I think you ride the Jepsen horse until he can't run no more.
  6. Let's hope. Though it's a long long way off.
  7. How low can Hunter go? My prediction (the only one I will make this year) stands: By this weekend Buxton is playing OF and Hunter is sitting.
  8. I know this has been alluded to before, but the way Sano looks the Twins will never be able to pay him when the time comes. Therefore, one can't help envisioning him (please, stab me in the eyes with a knitting needle!) in a Yankees uniform one day. (The kid will deserve all the money he can make, it won't be his fault. But still. I need my mind wiped clean.
  9. Only Chapman is better, I think. (I don't know.)
  10. "If I was a betting man, I'd bet against my home team," said a sad Pete Rose.
  11. Mr. River, you can do it all. Can't you photoshop, too?
  12. I went to yoga, just got back. Missed a lot. 300+ comments? What's this? Yankees haters coming out of the woodwork?
  13. I wonder if curlers get dead arms (or in whatever way wear out) late in the curling season?
  14. There should be a law against the dimensions of Yankee Stadium.
  15. I didn't mean to. I swear. I should get a warning point for that!
  16. Unfortunately, I left the site after I wrote it, and thus the edit no longer works. Try it sometime.
  17. I'm tired of the A-Rod and Teixeira blasting homeruns off us. Please let them be too old to do that anymore!
  18. Hmm. The Dalai Lama actually eats meat. I was disappointed to learn that, being a vegetarian myself. No joke.
  19. I agree with your attitude, but nobody can be blamed for Nishioka.
  20. Plouffe has now grounded into 23 double plays. The Twins single-season record for double plays grounded into is 28 in 1970 by Harmon Killebrew. Now you could say that Plouffe is in good company here, but ... Killebrew hit 41 homeruns and 131 rbi that year.
  21. Hunter's troubles appear to be deeper than a slump. Every car runs out of the gas if you drive it long enough. Is Torii done? I don't know. I hope not. I like Torii Hunter. I gave him a ride in my taxi one time (when I drove a taxi), and he was as cool to me as he is with his teammates. That says something about a person. We drove by the Dome and I asked him about it and he said, "Blow it up! Blow it up!" and many years later they did. And now he's back. It's cool. But I want to win, and I think Torii wants to win, too, so I'm betting (facetiously) that he will do an honorable thing now by voluntarily stepping aside, to accept a part-time roll for the sake of his protege Byron Buxton. I can take your ridicule. Just don't hit me with a bat.
