  1. 86 is my goal for the team. To do that they will need to play very well down the stretch. If it's not enough, then it's not enough, but if they reach 86 they will have done well.
  2. Win or lose it's fun to have Sano up here!
  3. Vargas had already pinch hit.
  4. Both what he has done recently and his lack of foot speed are both measured by statistics. Schmancy ones, too.
  5. Yes, Trevor (Oofda) Plouffe is one away from tying Killebrew at 28. Only 13 players have ever hit into 30 double plays in a year.
  6. They killed Kenny! The bastards!
  7. The kid is content to connect on a single.
  8. You must be smoking Optimism, the newest street drug for sports fans.
  9. I loved your use of the old quotes. Great idea. Bravo!
  10. You made me use Google, damn it.
  11. I think Hicks and Buxton and Rosario are making Hunter into a better outfielder just by having to try to keep up with them.
  12. Does anybody else think the "overhang" in right field is a tad gimmicky?
  13. Tigers TV just showed that 7.5% of Dozier's hits are to right field. Ugh.
  14. I don't know why I like this, but I do.
  15. Thanks. I wasn't sure what you meant. (The typed word doesn't always convey sarcasm very well, etc.).
  16. Not an impressive number at all. Thanks for sharing.
  17. You're not implying that I was implying that Mauer should have fought in a war are you? Fighting in two wars is simply an extraordinary asterisk to Ted Willliams' career, no?
  18. Joe Mauer has been on base 33 consecutive games. This is very impressive. Keep on going, Joe. I have wondered about hitting streaks vs. on-base streaks; the latter seems more important, yet generally you don't hear about it. So I looked it up, and do you know who holds the MLB record? record? Ted Williams. 84 games. The man who missed 5 years of baseball during the prime of his career, while fighting in World War II and Korea would have amassed around 3500 hits and 700 home runs if not for that little blip. (Career career OBP: just .482.)
  19. This is not worthy of a forum.
