  1. Well, here goes. For those who think Deduno might start the season not on the DL, here is a discussion about recovery for pitchers from the rotator cuff portion of the surgery Deduno had in September. Granted, this was the state of the art in 2007, but still. On top of this, he also had repair of the tearing of the cartilaginous labrum. The prognosis for most pitchers with this injury is not good. One of the two people talking optimistically about this is his agent (he might be biased) and the other is Terry Ryan, similarly optimistic. One wonders how the surgeon views the chances of ultimate 100% recovery and the odds of his patient being ready for spring training. I wish Deduno well.
  2. Your story struck several chords in me and moved me to tears several times. Your's is a sweetly told story. Thanks.
  3. A Google search shows Morneau's recent injury and surgical history, this besides the concussion from mid-season 2010: June 2011-neck surgery to remove a fragment of a disc that was causing neck and shoulder and arm pain. September, 2011- cyst removal from left knee and bone spur removal from left ankle. October, 2011- a "stabilization procedure" on a tendon in the back of the left wrist. With all this, it is no wonder his power is down. Just the altered bio-mechanics of his swing from the leg and wrist surgeries could easily be affecting him. The neck surgery, described by a Twins trainer at the time as "non-invasive"(!) could have been for neck issues that are still affecting his swing. Ample reasons for a decline in power.
  4. Congratulations. An awesome achievement.
  5. For the baseball-philiacs out there this could easily supplant radio-listening habits developed over decades. Looking for a daily audio baseball fix is very frustrating because baseball discussion is seemingly only randomly placed on a show's schedule, often for too brief a time period. Also, the Twins are on not on a coast, they do not use a football or basketball and the level of discourse often is not as in-depth as it is on these podcasts. Please keep going.
  6. Seth, Congratulations. I doubt many blogs have lasted ten years. Your writing is always fair to those you write about. I think you always give players and FO types the benefit of the doubt. That is refreshing. Thank you for many entertaining reads.
  7. If this baseball thing doesn't work out, he's auditioning for his next career as a football referee. He'll be the designated safety caller.
  8. Brad, The istory of the '88 draft was ard to read. I kept looking for itters with their omer stats or the names of urlers who threw the igh-ard eater. I went to ask a friend from ispaniola whether e could elp but all e could give me was " No ablo engles." I replied, "oh, ell".
