  1. Sometimes I forget or take it for granted, then I read some of the Star and Tribune's comments or even MLB's and it all comes back to me in a hurry. It's like night and day. Thank you moderators!
  2. When the team decided not to protect Stewart, I just figured there was some kind of deal for him pending.
  3. How about the Padres? Don't they have a reliever or two the Twins could maybe trade the rest of their international money for?
  4. Why can't pitchers do a bit of both? The thing that has bugged the heck out of me for a long time now is pitchers that get a quick two strikes, then start to nibble. It just drives me crazy.
  5. A huge chunk of the media is based out of New York, so that could be a big part of the reason the national press is saying it. The Yankees also won't be able to throw crazy money and years at this one like they usually do, so there is that too. I can't say the Twins are going to land him, but the more I think about this thing, the more I think he won't be playing for the Yankees either.
  6. Ditto that. I have to keep reminding myself that it's probably not going to happen, but I don't seem to be listening to myself at all.
  7. If he went to the Twins and asked to be released, I can't imagine why they would say no. Maybe Vargas gets a legit shot at a full time position. I still think he could put up some sick numbers if they would just give him the job and let him play.
  8. As a left coast out of towner, I too am grateful for Twins Daily and Twinkie Town for helping me keep in touch with my team.
  9. Is it possible the team is planning to trade Stewart and that's why they didn't protect him?
  10. I would say the team that signs Darvish is the one with the inside track on Otani regardless of what they have to spend in international money.
  11. I know others may laugh and point and mock, but there is a part of me that would love to see Colon come back. Maybe as a long reliever with an occasional spot start?
  12. I'm stoked. I find myself checking MLB Trade Rumors several times a day just in case something starts to break.
  13. Hi, I've just returned from the future and the winner is Molly. No use in arguing with me about it. That is what happens.
  14. Miller probably though voting for your own guy violated some kind of unwritten Minnesota nice etiquette rule. He voted that way for fear other reporters would think him rude.
  15. No more considering pitchers who slot in behind Santana. We already have an entire farm system full of them. Time to aim for somebody that can slot in front of Santana. The team has more than enough money. If your interested in taking risks, just resign Colon and make him a long reliever. We would at least know what we're getting.
  16. I feel I can predict with near 100% certainty that if May is healthy and pitching like he did last spring, a spot will magically appear. Until that happens, there is absolutely no reason to worry about it and more importantly, no reason to not go after another stud arm for the rotation (plus a few more for the bullpen).
  17. I'll take any combo of those four.
  18. Extending a player doesn't mean you can't still trade them after. The guy hasn't been banged up too much by injuries either, so he should age better than many. I say go for it.
  19. Oh hell yeah! Ditto that!
  20. I'm not saying anything one way or the other, I'm just curious: what does the team do for a bullpen now? Kintsler was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise horrendous pen. Who do they bring up? Who comes up in September? What are their chances?
  21. Most of the guys we got were ranked in the top twenty of their organizations and were having decent seasons. Littell, who slotted in at #22 in the Yankees organization, slotted in between Thorpe and Wade at #16 for the Twins. Most will probably move up next time MLB ranks the prospects.
  22. Average is also more than we've been getting in a couple of the slots. I really don't care how long some people think it will take for this team to win in the post season and I don't care how great people think Burdi and any other mid tier prospect is. I'm sick of losing and I'm sick of having the front office not pulling the trigger on trades because of some future greatness that never seems to materialize. I want to see how far this team can go. Not next season or the season after. I want to see it this season. I want to see it now. A mid-rotation and a couple of relievers would do wonders for this team's chances and it wouldn't take a lot to get them. It also doesn't have to block any of the youth. Bring 'em all up in September and give them some innings. Take some of the load off the starters. A chase for the post season would be invaluable for everybody concerned.
  23. Exactly right. A run at a division title and appearances in the post season would more than cover Garcia's payroll.
  24. I can't imagine why Atlanta wouldn't still be considering other players from the Twins for Garcia.
