  1. Aaron and John talk about the Twins trading Fernando Rodney, Logan Morrison's season mercifully coming to an end, Kohl Stewart's surprising call-up and MLB debut, Tyler Austin getting his big chance, Ervin Santana's bad pitching and headline-grabbing quotes, and the upcoming event at Target Field with general manager Thad Levine. You can listen by downloading us from iTunes, Stitcher, iHeartRadio or find it at GleemanAndTheGeek.com. Or just click this link. 3. Baseball Prospectus and the Minnesota Twins are coming together for an event on August 25th at Target Field. It includes a Twins game, a private meet and greet with Baseball Prospectus and Twins Daily personalities, and a Q&A session with Twins General Manager Thad Levine. They've already sold over 100 tickets, so don't miss out and grab your tickets now.It all takes place at the Twins/Athletics game on Saturday, August 25th. The game (which is included in the price) starts at 6:10, but Parker Hageman and John Bonnes will be joining Aaron Gleeman and other Baseball Prospectus' writers in a private "meet and greet" two hours prior in the same room where Twins do press conferences. Which is apropos because we'll be having our own Q&A session with Thad Levine before the game, too. If you're someone who complains about how the press never asks the right questions, here's a chance to put your money where your mouth is (while also watching a ballgame and having a cold one or two). The ticket also includes a special discount coupon to Baseball Prospectus Premium or Super Premium subscriptions, which is another must for baseball fans. Get all the details - and more importantly a ticket or two - right here. Honestly, this is the kind of event I would never have dreamed could have happened 20 years ago when I first started reading BP. It it hadn't happened last year, I'd say it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, but just because it happened once before doesn't mean it'll happen ever again. Join the tribe in this unique opportunity. Get Tickets Here Click here to view the article

  7. Aaron and John talk about the Twins trading Brian Dozier, Lance Lynn, and Zach Duke at the deadline, updating the Twins' top prospect rankings to include trade pickups, looking ahead to the 2019 payroll and offseason plans, Free Johan!, and Trevor May's long comeback finally reaching the majors. 9. If they really did not pick up any of Lynn's salary, that all by itself is a victory. It's not one that helps the fans, just maybe gives Falvey some credibility with ownership, but I didn't expect even that much.
  10. AS of the beginning of this year, Fan Graphs did not list Luis Rijo as one of the top 27 prospect in the organization, though they did list him at a "Future Back-End Starter."
  11. I suspect the narrative on Austin will be: he just needs a change of scenery, or coaching maybe. He zoomed up the prospect list in 2012 and ended up at AA. It's been a very slow rise since. In the majors, he's shown no plate discipline (53K vs 8BB this year) and it wasn't great in AAA either. The right-handed batter has shown one skill - he has slugged around southpaws. It's only 104 plate appearances, but he has a 961 OPS, and it's been consistent from year to year.
  12. Here's Rijo's baseball reference page. 26K in 27IP and ... 1 walk in the appy league? Can that be right?
  13. Looks like they also got a Class A pitcher, Luis Rijo, 19. I'll be interested to see if the Twins keps some of Lynn's salary to get anyone back.
  14. Aaron and John talk about the Twins trading Eduardo Escobar and Ryan Pressly, the scouting reports on the five prospects they received, the odds of Brian Dozier, Kyle Gibson, and others also being on the move before the deadline, Miguel Sano's rushed return, Ervin Santana's lack of velocity, and letting everyone slide into our DMs. You can listen by downloading us from iTunes, Stitcher, iHeartRadio or find it at GleemanAndTheGeek.com. 20. It's been 15 years or so since I visited Petco Park, and my impression at the time was was it was one of the better new ballparks. That was also long before Target Field, so my wife and I revisited it Sunday, to see if we were still as impressed. We were, and here is the tweet thread detailing our findings.....
