I know with the TV issue and the revenue stream from it, up in the air. The Twins will probably want to lower the payroll But, with Pablo Lopez going from 8.25M in 2024 to 21.75M in 2025. And, with Royce Lewis, Joe Ryan, Jhoan Duran, Bailey Ober, Griffin Jax, Trevor Larnach, and more ALL becoming Arbitration eligible in 2025. It maybe makes more sense to spend a little more on payroll in 2024. We have a defending Division champion, and the other teams in our division are NOT that strong. So why not try to build a team that can compete for a WS, when we STILL have some cost controllable players. By letting 2024 go, by lowering payroll and not adding to a fairly good team, we lose a great opportunity to build our team to COMPETE for a WS. Plus, the young players on our roster, if they keep succeeding, is going to run that payroll up fast in the coming years. So lets go for it this year, by adding some quality to our roster. Which means we probably have to stay at last years payroll level or even add a little to it.

With the Winter Meetings looming and the Twins having already made some impressive moves, one player who intrigues me is Danny Espinosa of the Nats. A 2b/ss who has kinda fell out of favor in the Nats organization. The Twins could use some help in the MI and Espinosa might be had for a minimal price. He strikes out to much and has a low BA. But he has 4 years of team control, is a switch-hitter, has really good pop, and a pretty good defensive player at both 2b/ss. He was a highly touted prospect and maybe hasn't fulfilled his potential yet. With the Nats trading Lombardozzi it maybe changes how they feel about Espinosa. But Espinosa is the type of player the Twins should look at to help their MI and can maybe be had for a very resonable price. Plus four years of team control. A very reasonable gamble on a player who might break-out and be a useful player. He hasn't played much ss in the majors because of Desmond, but he would be good competition for Florimon at ss and would give us some depth there.
