  1. re: one post generating 1200 comments. There are a bunch of us who truly enjoy the Twins, and I'm grateful for this TD forum to share this deep dysfunction. (DW thanks for sharing your scoop, that was fun) I think Dozier should be traded. I wonder if it makes sense to suggest that an excellent second baseman might be a luxury of an excellent team. A lesser team might need to build around center field and/or shortstop and/or starting pitching. Maybe Thanks for the conversation! This line from Fellowship of the Ring might be fitting. “I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”
  2. What have you usually charged for the Offseason Handbook? Thanks for your great work on TD. I wonder if any other team has something as excellent to turn to every day. Thanks to everyone who helps to fuel our fandom!
  3. Yes. I would also hope for a more creative use of a bullpen. I had to go read LaVelle's article. I certainly did not consider Perkins to be whining. He was, however, articulating his frustration with honesty. I would be amazed if Molitor thought he was whining Amazed.
  4. I simply do not understand the Buxton skepticism. It is not grounded in reality. Take a look at Mike Trout's first year in MLB - 2011. Trout was 27 for 123 - a batting average of 220 and OPS of 672 Buxton was 27 for 129 a batting average of 209 and OPS of 576 The transition to MLB is way more difficult than people realize. When Buxton comes up, he will be up to stay.
  5. I think that in areas of personal beliefs, one might wish that people would be able to articulate a position respectfully, with a sense that all sides are seeking what is best for all. If that is what you mean by hoping Torii becomes more enlightened, I'm with you on that. One more thing. How on earth does Torii's retirement speak to the Front Office and their handling, or mishandling of decision making and roster management? [Let me say this as respectfully as I can...] These are the sorts of comments on TD that I appreciate the least. When the article is Torii's retirement, and a comment is aimed at how bad the FO is. Sorta gets old my friends. To quote Rodney King; "Can't we all just get along?"
  6. Let me add my thanks to TD for adding to my enjoyment of the MLB season. It seems to me, that in the years of the Twins success in the last 15 years, over and over, one could say "if this works out and if that works out. . ." on about 7 players each year. One should probably expect a ratio of about 2 out 7 to "work out." In those years, it was closer to 5 out of 7. I am afraid that conditioned the Twins FO to think that 5 out 7 was normal. Or something. . . Also - how often do free agent acquisitions really help teams? Which of the 10 playoff teams can point to a free agent or two as a main catalyst?
  7. Great stuff Parker! Thanks. That Slugging % by Zone Location chart made me laugh out loud. Fun.
  8. I don't quite get the Florimon comp. I can't imagine anyone getting that. Buxton and Florimon? I listened to the podcast John, and could never quite see your point. If you or Gleeman struck out that much, we would probably bench you. If Buxton does, we look forward to when the lessons sink in and he catches on fire. One can almost be certain that he will begin to hit. That was Gleeman's point. He WILL hit. Buxton is the kind of player who, when someone suggests that he is somehow like Pedro Florimon, people wonder if that person understands baseball at all...
  9. Any suggestion that Mauer should catch seems dismissive of the reality of brain injury, and callous towards the well being of a person. Mauer told Buster Posey to catch as long as he can. Too many people are a bit cavalier about such things... I will leave it at that... Looking forward to seeing Mr. Sano!
  10. That photo - is that Gonsalves? Reminds me that these young men are YOUNG. Wow. We should sometimes cut these guys a bit of slack when they don't behave like 70 year old sages. . .
  11. John, this article, and the previous comments, make me grateful to be a part of the Twins Daily community. thanks to everyone who shares their love of baseball and the Twins here on this site. John, Enjoy the Florida sunshine. The Wyoming winters haven't been as tough as Minnesota lately, but Florida still sounds prettty dang nice right now!
