  1. So we traded unexpectedly volatile for predictably volatile..
  2. Harrison Bader, Mike Clevinger, Josh Donaldson.. players on what were thought to be contenders are dropping at a furious clip.
  3. FWIW the Angels just dumped a lot of players including Giolito and Renfroe.
  4. The team is a healthy mix of veterans and rookies.. and they're finally getting literally healthy. I don't want to put all the eggs in a couple baskets but if Brock Stewart.and Alex Kirilloff can return at 90 percent of what they were, I think we're ready to go..
  5. "The seventh and eighth innings brought some minimal drama, but at the end of the day Keuchel had pitched four scoreless innings, and kept the Twins in the game." There were more heroes than goats today, just enough to get the W. Rocco's pinch hitting shell game with Vazquez was embarrassing to witness but he handled the bullpen flawlessly. Keuchel, Kepler, Taylor.. a different hero every day..
  6. I think he absolutely needs to be a consideration as part of the starting rotation. Paddack and Varland are wild card in the mix.. even if Kenta comes back, the team will likely still look for a top tier pitcher. Nola? Snell?
  7. It seems so unlikely. Josh Winder for three scoreless innings? Successfully pinch hitting for Julien? Getting Pop out of the dugout? Maybe that last one actually helped.. big game that needs to generate more big games. The next two weeks is our playoffs.
  8. I think what the OP is getting at is that while Edgar Martinez killed the Twins (but more so the Angels and Athletics due to familiarity) Magglio Ordonez probably kept Twins fans up at night in a way Edgar never did.
  9. Well today the umps were as culpable as the weather. Not enjoyable but is what it is.
  10. There is plenty of culpability. I'd have loved to see another inning from Kenta but in those conditions I don't think it would have been wise.
  11. I will stand in line to bash Rocco (and plenty of batters are culpable today too despite scoring seven) but let's see, Ortega is unavailable and Winder is persona non grata. Floro also likely to stay sitting. Ok it's hot so you pull Kenta. Who's left? Maybe you didn't plan to cough up a three run lead but lets say the game went 12 or 13 innings. Do you put Keuchel or Sonny out there and call up Ryan to take their place in the rotation? Why didn't they make plans and bus someone out while sending Ortega down? A shaky Duran asked to throw two innings in 110 degree heat seems a poor choice.. and The emergency pitcher Luplow was already out of the game. Things you think about when you're not the manager, sigh..
  12. Simply putting the ball in play was demonstrated with great aplomb by Milwaukee last night. In case 100 year was too much for the boys to fathom.
  13. I agree with the 'Do Not Try Stupid Things' but is the corollary 'Hit It To Buxton And Make Him Run Around'?
  14. I'd be okay seeing Keuchel come in to clean up Gray's one crappy inning.
  15. The Tigers have a core. The Guardians have a rotation. The Twins have both. The Sox have a comedy show .
  16. Because of the expectations they cannot be a surprise but they are certainly capable of being a disappointment.. which plays right into psychology of the Minnesota Professional Sports Fan.
  17. I like the power but I am more pleased that while he does strike out, he does not squander scoring opportunities at the rate other Twins seem to. When Taylor kicks off an inning by getting on base, good things usually happen.
  18. That would be great but you know it will be Larnach.. or the return of Willi..
  19. It's sad that the popular and well liked guys in the clubhouse (Polo, Farmer) may not be around to mentor the young players on their way up. But the numbers game says it's so. Having said that Polo and Solano (and maybe Castro) have shown the flexibility and prowess that should make the team keep maybe two of them if not all 3. Gallo, Farmer, maybe Gordon and Larnach, thanks and good luck..
  20. If they could have seen they would have needed more runs they should have snuck Luplow in there. Sad day Solano picked to go 0-5.
