Nice work! I completely agree that it is a skill but I'm with a lot of the other readers in that I think it's a tough metric to calculate. If Mauer was catching for the Dodgers or Cardinals last year I bet he'd wind up being well above average. Keep up the great work in our quest for the truth about pitch framing!

There is nothing elitist or condescending about wanting a team to win championships. I love this team through thick and thin, and I enjoy watching or listening to all the games. But not wanting your team to win the World Series every year is just freakin un-American! I think if the Twins make a run at winning the central I'll consider it a success, and I subscribe to the school of thought that thinks "this is a baseball and anything can happen." If we make the playoffs anything can happen in a seven game series.

The adjustment from aluminum to wood isn't as drastic as it was pre-2011. The BBCOR bats that high school and college level ballplayers use now don't have much more pop than a good stick of maple, just a slightly bigger sweet spot. But I'm with ya, I want to see him face a few guys that can legally buy a beer before I'm calling shotgun on the Thorpe bandwagon.

I'm looking forward to the Astros returning to relevancy in the near future. It will be fun to see both them and the Athletics fighting for the top spot in the West and beating out the big payroll Rangers and Angels.

I think that heading into Spring Training and the regular season with the experience of dealing with failure at the Major League level will be really beneficial for him. I'm sure that as a young toolsy prospect with such a high ceiling he put an immense amount of pressure on himself. Hopefully he's using this off season to put some things in perspective and comes in with a clear head: see the ball, hit the ball, one pitch at a time.

Great to see his mechanics coming around! I feel that with a significant improvement in his hitting he'll be less apt to make errors in the field as well. Last year you could tell how frustrated he was by his plate appearances by how he let it carry over into his defense.

If I'm Kevin Correia, I've got a huge chip on my shoulder about all the negativity my signing has caused and I've got something to prove. I bet he puts up career numbers this year. I like this rotation a whole lot better than last year's. I think all of those young guys who put up pedestrian numbers in 2012 come out and show what they are capable of in 2013. If we go at least .500 in April, I think this team has a shot to do some things. GOD I LOVE SPRING!

I think Sam Deduno has the stuff to be successful at this level. Hopefully with last year's time with the big club under his belt, he feels a little more confident and can hit some spots and miss some bats this year. I would love to see what Gibson can do in the majors this year but, aside from a Christopher Lloyd in Angels in the Outfield intervention, I think bringing him up this year would be a waste of his service time.
