  1. The other factor is that he is 19, and the human brain is not yet fully developed until about 25. So perhaps his 25-35 years he will develop the ability to hit for average. Back in 1991, I heard Tom Kelly say on TV that a hitter's batting average will go down about 80 points from AAA to the Bigs...interesting stuff if you look at how our prospects fared between AAA and Minnesota last year.
  2. Yes to Parmelee. How about Sano? You think his batting average will increase from low-A to the Major Leagues?
  3. Yessir, I was being quite sarcastic in my request to shorten the fences. How do you think the FO has done at tailoring this team to fit the stadium?
  4. Who you got in across the 2016 infield?
  5. Wasted how? And I am excited to see some of these young talents that will be making the league minimum (and probably producing at a higher rate)
  6. Our best guys will still be in their early 20's...except for Mauer, of course. Doesn't sound like a Division Champion to me. But a MUCH more interesting product to watch and buy tickets to witness high-end talent
  7. Thank you Jeff. and I apologize for jumping to conclusions. But I cannot agree about Sano. I can't see how his average will go up at the higher levels. It should go down, but maybe you will prove right here. He certainly didnt make enough contact last season to be projected as an average hitter moving up. Power = BIG TIME Average = no As for Parmelee, he hasn't done so hot in the outfield as a minor leaguer. But its tough when you're as big as he is...and he will have to play RF since we have a three first-baseman in MN (Mauer, Morneau, Doumit)
  8. Umm, how many outfielders are you bringing to Minnesota?? Are you starting Benson in CF??? And yes, having Parm and Willi (a 1B and a DH) covering 2/3 of the outfield is wayyy worse than Young/Span/Cuddyer.
  9. Well, No. Last year his OPS vs left-handed hitters was .699. I understand he can get lefties out, but he needs to get righties out too, and he has NEVER really been able to do that consistently. He is half a pitcher, or one third of a pitcher if all you can do is pitch him vs. lefties. 30% of MLB hitters are left-handed. 60% right, 10% switch (approximately). So he really doesn't have a job in 2014 if he can't get righties out. I would stick with my word of "fine" because a lefty specialist isn't a high innings guy. He impacts our staff very little if he plays that role, since we won't be leading many games late....Duensing has A LOT to prove. I wouldn't say he dominated anything last year. And what has he done for us lately? 5.00+ ERA, that's what.
  10. What is Jeff talking about?? how is Sano projected to "hit for average" as he moves up??? Jeff is regurgitating stuff from two years ago about Sano. Not current info there. Jeff says Parmelee is a "homegrown outfield option" which makes me think he isn't really paying attention. At least he has Kepler in the top-10. Other than the issues listed, I am pretty much "ok" with his list.
  11. i could not access the insider article. but 2016 is when Kepler, Buxton, and Berrios should be ready. Along with a whole slew of older prospects.
  12. With our pitching looking well below par, we will need a fabulous defense to keep us competitive in 2013. But wait a minute, we are committed to starting a first-baseman in RF and we will keep our best DH in LF, so that our other DH can catch or play 1B. ?????????????????? How in the heck did we get into this mess????????????????????? We still have Morneau because he was about as valuable as Francisco Liriano at the trade-deadline and on the market last off-season. If he had been dealt, Arcia would have a legit shot in RF instead of the joke we are sending out there everyday this coming year. Nothing like having a big, slow guy covering a third of that spacious outfield in Minnesota. Oh wait...we have TWO big slow guys covering TWO-THIRDS of our outfield this year. But its ok, because we have a really good 4th outfielder that is ready to start for us. And if he doesn't work we have a rookie that has never hit .300 in a full season of minor league ball. I will stop the sarcasm now. Our pitching is going to suffer mightily as a result of this outfield defense. If we move the fences IN, we allow our big slow guys a chance to cover the decreased surface area. RIght? Makes about as much sense as our roster for 2013.
  13. yeah, those three are ready to get called up after May 7. 14. True, but there's an equal chance that both lose their prospect status next year, in my mind. Plus, it allows me to PROJECT what moves will be made, and then refer back to these posts to see how I did. Lots of thinking involved, but I am happy to explain my reasoning for any drop or add to the list.
  15. Did anyone catch the D.Arias reference at all??
  16. "Vargas missed time last year for both injury and PED use. (performance enhancing drug)" uhh, yeah...I think anyone that is reading this is well aware of what PED stands for. But are you certain he was using PED's or are you tarnishing his sweet name?? And you will see...Vargas is a legit top-20 and will have reason to move into the top-10 if he is healthy and hits up to his potential in 2013.
  17. shs_59........ the relievers I listed here are better than anyone that is not listed here, in my humble opinion, of course. C.Williams is not an impressive "stuff" guy, but he's got guts. Roberts is going to be very popular in Minnesota, and won't spend much longer on ANY "prospect" list. Also, looks like James had some conflicting info about the positive drug test. What was Vargas' injury last year?
  18. Thank you James, exactly what we needed here. Vargas is big enough to not need PED's, so I am thankful he was just trying to trim that beautiful physique of his....
  19. Okay people...you have my top-20 prospects. Now, tell me what I did wrong. Top-10 list ...and... 11-20 list. These are projections for current prospects that will remain under "prospect status" for the start of 2014. Please and thank you.
  20. I dont think there is any chance the Twins draft Boldt (the MInnesota kid). #4 is wayy too high for him, and the Twins could nab a REAL starting pitcher with that slot. I have suggested O. Mercado or JP Crawford for the Twins, but I think they go with a guy that is 1-2 years from pitching in Minnesota.
  21. No, he has been fine vs. lefties. But any righty or switch hitter looks like an all-star vs. Brian. His career year (2010) was really good, but he must have forgot how he was successful because its been a g.d. hit parade ever since
  22. Duensing is gonna get lit up. It seems like his best years are behind him. But hey, we got player control well into his sh**ty years
  23. Theilbar is ready to contribute next season, after some time in AAA. Then Williams is probably the next best lefty, still a year or two away. Melotakis is next
