  1. I would have counted myself in the 99% confidence in Terry Ryan until this year. I remember interviews at the end of last season from TR where he said that starting pitching was the priority for the off season. I also remember an interview Dave St. Peter had where he said that the budget was not a constraint for TR. The facts are that starting pitching has not been even remotely improved and payroll has decreased. I am not sure what my percent confidence is now in the front office, but it is definately decreasing as I watch this season unfold. I start getting excited each year for Twins baseball when pitchers and cathers report to spring training in February. Having given up any hope of contending before the first of June is very depressing.
  2. Other than some of the shows you have already mentioned, Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 I watch American Pickers and Pawn Stars on the History Channel. Sunday at 10:00 I watch Homeland on Showtime. Homeland is a serial and there has already been four episodes this season so it may be hard to pick up. Other than those two nights I look forward to Gopher basketball and hockey games.
  3. I would not be in favor of signing Burton to an extension unless the Twins think it would help his trade value (I am not sure if it would or not). Relievers are one position that is relatively easy to fill. Both Burton and Fien were aquired for nothing this year. To me it doesn't make sense to tie up money for an excellent set up reliever when 90+ games a year the Twins are losing in the eighth inning. I really believe it is time to trade off any assets the Twins have and start over.
  4. Why will I watch? Because I'm a Twins fan and I love baseball. The games are only hard to watch when the Twins get down by several runs early. Even then, I can hope for a three run home run from the Hammer to get us back in the game. In a lost season, there are still plenty of intriguing stories to keep my interest. I love to watch the long time minor leaguers like Deduno and Carson make it to the big leagues and have success. Even though I know they won't make an impact long term, I still root for them to be able to live the dream as long as possible. Then come September I will have the young players to watch and hopefully see some promise for next year.
  5. Even if R&R works 20 per cent of the time it should be tried. A players long term health should be the deciding factor not how fast the player can come back. People here seem to be advocating immediate surgery in the case of any elbow problems. I am not excusing the Twins medical staff in any way. We continue to see players listed as day to day only to have them put on the disabled list down the road. Plouffe is a recent example but being cautious with recommending surgery is not a problem.
  6. Is there any way to get the pitching rotation for the New Britain series against Akron? I live only 45 minutes from Akron and would like to catch a game.
  7. Thank you for this Seth. One of the main reasons I went to your site every day was for the minor league updates. I am glad to see it is continuing here. I know it is a lot of work to do a daily recap but it is greatly appreciated.
  8. After a prospect has had 1000 minor league at bats, I often read things like "He is what he is". This is one of my least favorite comments. It is a tag that was put on Denard Span and I see it now when referring to Brian Dozier and Chris Parmalee. Some players just take longer to develop than others. There is always room for improvement with any player. I hope that Parmalee is still in the development stage and will continue to improve. Even if Mormeau is healthy, there is always room for patient power hitter somewhere.
  9. This is excellent information I don't see elswhere. Looking forward to your updates.
  10. Having daily updates of all of the minor league teams would be great. I always went to Seth's site first during the season looking for updates. If there was nothing there, I would have to go to each of the minor league team's websites and find the box score. Any and all minor league coverage will be appreciated.
  11. I can see saving ten runs from Revere's defense and maybe ten runs with Carroll (only because last year's shortstop defense was horrid). Unfortunately I don't see the pitching staff saving any runs from last year's total. The pitching staff has not improved and it may actually give up more runs this year. That leaves 180 runs for the offense to make up just to reach 81 wins. I am usually very optomistic at the beginning of the year but I am afraid we are in for a long season. I would rather the Twins go into rebuilding mode than try to marginally contend with cheap veterans. If the Twins trade off what pieces the can for prospects and add this year's draft class to the farm system, I could at least see hope for the future.
