  1. [when in Texas, Harden was known as the "Club Douche". It is another low risk move by TR.
  2. The Twins are in a catch 22 when it comes to Mauer. The fan base will revolt if there is a trade, but his salary limits what else the team can do. There is also a catch 22 when it comes to trading him. The only justification for trading Mauer is getting a mother load back in return. But teams will not give a motherload for an "aging" catcher and if he moves positions his value diminishes. As for dreams of trading for Andrus or Profar---dream on. We do not have what it takes to obtain either one.
  3. That's about right... Gardy has done a terrific job managing the Twins since he started in 2002. He's the same person and the same manager that won an AL Manager of the Year award and finished second five times. But if it's going to be guys like Correia in his rotation or guys like we saw last year, there's not a thing he can do. No manager alive, even Larussa or Maddon could have won with the Twins issues (injury and talent) the last two seasons. It's the way baseball works, and it may be a change for change sake is good, but it won't be because Gardy suddenly became a bad manager. Absolutely correct. The hyper fan tends to micro-manage every move made and then views in light of their micro-management, which always shades the view towards the negative. When you look at his body of work he is one of the best managers in the game and is highly respected among baseball fans and personnel in other markets. He has not been provided talent the last couple of years and no one could manage that junk. BTW, same thing happens here, many want Ron Washington gone.
  4. As stated, most of you view the 2006 Francisco Liriano as the current Francisco Liriano. He has been awful since with a rare good-to-great start, and the gentleman who posted the 122 post-TJ starts with a 1.42 WHIP shows me that Frankie is JAG material. In addition, what is the functional objection that he was traded to a "divisional rival"? We are not in contention and there is no guarantee that Liriano signs with the Sox next year. The return is ho hum for a ho hum pitcher who is 6 years removed from a very good season. This is neither a good or a bad move, and inserting "they could have gotten X" for him pretends that someone actually offered X for him. Highly doubtful that TR would say, "no I'm not going to take very good X, and instead take wto middling prospects instead." They only valid point here regards the trades impact on the 40 man roster as the team moves forward.
