  1. From milb.com: "Byron Buxton made his first appearance since May 8 and went 0-for-2. Buxton made a tremendous catch to save two runs, robbing Goeddel of extra bases with a leaping, tumbling grab in dead center field in the third inning. Buxton exited the game in favor of Kepler after being scheduled to only play three innings."
  2. Mlbtraderumors.com suggests that the Rays might be in on a Jesse Crain trade, thereby adding to their relief options.
  3. I think that the chances would have been good for the Twins to push the tying run across, at least. The next batter, Doumit, walked, which would have meant bases loaded with one out. Hermann then needs to hit a sac fly for the game to be tied. Of course, Hermann struck out...
  4. I'm very new to the prospects discussion, but wouldn't it be considered a sign of great organizational strength to have five guys in the top 100? To have five guys in the (almost) top 40 seems incredible to me. Just awesome.
  5. Mlb.com is reporting that Meyer's MRI came back "clean." So, nothing serious, even though Meyer is still on the 7 day DL
  6. Excellent job as usual, Seth. Question: if Stewart signs quickly, where do you see him assigned and how soon do we get to follow his progress?
  7. I like the thought, but where's Rosario in this scenario? Traded away for pitching? Or, would that spell the end of Dozier?
  8. For us cheapskates without access...does KLAW have us taking Bryant, then, or one of the college arms?
  9. How do you see Wimmers, your #16 prospect, fit into the rotation of the future? If Gibson is an ideal 2, does that mean Wimmers is an ideal 3/4? In any case, I'm just curious: with so much talk about the rotation, I often forget about this former 1st rounder.
  10. Well, I know that 3 ER and 3 BB over 4 IP is nothing to be excited about...but at least he didn't put up those lines of Hurlburt and Burris. Woof.
  11. That's a neat thought, what with the ETA for Berrios and a year or two of seasoning for Gibson and Meyer.
  12. Yes. And I know that it's foolish to get over-hyped--the odds are that not all of them will pan out--but imagine if you include the #4 pick in the 2013 draft in there, assuming it's a pitcher. Appel or Manaea would fit in there nicely.
  13. Inflammatory headline? The headline contains no pathos at all--how can it inflame? And might the headline be regarding the overall point about Mauer from my post, not about Keri's article? But thanks anyway for slamming the headline.
  14. Just read Jonah Keri's assessment of the 15 worst MLB contracts fully expecting to see Mauer's name on the list. It wasn't. There was, however, some discussion of one Mr. Correia, in connection with John Danks. Jonah Keri on the worst contracts in MLB - Grantland
  15. Yes...and not to get too ahead of ourselves, we're looking at a top five pick in each of probably the next two MLB drafts. So even if we lose a couple out of that list of ten, a couple of good drafts and some luck means we might easily replace them in the system (even improve on them).
  16. With May now in the fold, any speculation on the new top ten list of prospects in the organization? Where does May fit, and who gets booted from the top ten?
  17. Take a look at this; I believe you all may find this amusing. http://www.progressiveboink.com/2012/5/31/2995814/yankeesfans-gif-animated-yankee-enthusiasts-story On a much more serious note, I have two young daughters whom I am trying to teach well. Is it more important that they grow up loathing the Yankees or the White Sox? I think, actually, the latter. But I'd be happy to entertain suggestions.
  18. You are doing a tremendous job here, Peanuts. Keep up the good work--a message both to you and to Perdomo!
  19. http://theclassical.org/theclog/sons-of-willingham-a-pictorial-history-of-imaginary-meat-named-baseballers A few laughs inspired by The Hammer, from the good folks at the website The Classical.
  20. I agree, Glunn. It's interesting to learn of the role that Vavra and "Andy" have had in improving the two success stories for the season so far. Good work!
  21. All the chatter before yesterday's game was that the Twins were going to rip apart Gavin Floyd, especially with Doumit in the lineup. What did they do? Now the chatter is that Sale will obliterate this lineup. Maybe so or maybe not. I'd not be terribly surprised if Sale finally gets a shellacking this afternoon. Of course, perhaps that's just wishful thinking....
  22. On a Revere related note: how many more PAs does Revere need to be considered among the league leaders in BA? Just curious when we'll see his name in the top 5.
