  1. Even then for the Vikings to pull off a 10 win season, a bunch of things all had to fall there way, not the least of which was AD's remarkable recovery. For the Twins to have a similar turnaround, a lot of marginal players would have to have career years and then some. Well spring is the time of year for optimism, so I guess we can hope for a little while.
  2. The classic low risk/ high reward signing! It would be awe fully good to see this one pay off. This one, of all the recent such signings, really has the potential to be a difference maker. If only!
  3. I can see Correia being pushed out of the rotation, if fact I expect that, but if Pelfrey or Harden fail to acquire, or hold on to rotation spots, it most assuredly will be due to health issues. Which is probably the major reason Saunders is being considered in the first place, just too many ifs to not consider a solid, if unspectacular innings eater.
  4. MLB rumors says Harden is signed, so we'll see what he can contribute.
  5. I feel so much better about my lack of contribution here, having read this thread.
  6. You're right, I just wanted to illustrate the continued Twins flailing. Part of the game is keeping your opponent guessing. Guessing about your competency or sanity might work.
  7. You doubt that the Twins will give him the opportunity to claim a starters position even if he continues to be as effective through the rest of this season? I didn't realize they had so many really good pitchers!
  8. I understand that the metrics all suggest a coming fall, it'll likely happen, till then enjoy the ride. And ya never know he might be the one to beat the odds and continue to be effective long term. If so, good for him.
  9. Deduno really is the least " Twins like" starter we've seen them trot out to the mound in a long time. I really don't recall the last starter we've pitched with the same combination of nasty breaking stuff, and unpredictable fastball. A refreshing change, at times a scary change. But you have to kind of like the guy, it's clear he really is giving it his all. You have to wonder how long it will continue to work, how long he'll be effective, maybe he beats the odds and has a real future as a starter.
  10. Thanks glunn and thylos98, it kind of sounds like it may be now or never for the 29 year old with the wicked curve. It would be nice to see him salvage his career and help the Twins out at the same time. Go Sam!
  11. Anyone care to provide some history/insight into Deduno? I think the first I remember him being in the organization was this past Spring(?) and IIRC he pitched pretty well, but I don't know anything beyond that. Whatever help offered is appreciated!
  12. OTOH 37 K's in 30 innings doesn't sound bad.
