  1. Technically, Swanson and Benintendi will still be on prospect lists this winter as they have not lost their rookie eligibility.
  2. I have him in my top 25 at CTTP - link provided earlier in the thread.
  3. You've been paying attention to how the Braves have traded, right? This isn't a "fanboy" take, either. They turned two guys picked up off the scrap heap after opening day into arguably the most-discussed player in the Arizona Fall League and a definite top 150-200 prospect in the game. They turned Jeff Francoeur into anything. They've (twice) turned Kelly Johnson into legitimate prospects. And all that isn't even touching the San Diego and Arizona trades that quite literally re-made the farm system. What I'm saying is good luck in "ringing out" anything with Coppy and the Braves.
  4. Really upset that they besmirch my good name.
  5. Because most likely Albies is not on the table due to his price not being what the Braves believe his value truly is. From a few doctors I've talked with who have experience working with the type of fracture Albies suffered, it's very feasible that he is not 100% at any point in 2017. Of course, the team is saying he'll be ready for opening day, and he could be, but he could also never feel 100% as well as the joint heals. The Braves have tremendous depth throughout their system. You get Dozier while keeping Albies, you can let Albies take his time healing, then flip Dozier before 2018 and give the spot to Albies and get a return of your own for Dozier.
  6. And I think the Braves laugh and hang up at that offer.
  7. Heh, I already have him there...and not just based on my own views, but on the views of a lot of people I've talked with around the game.
  8. Then perhaps you could have gone to the Braves message boards because Braves beat guys have discussed the team's discussions with the Twins about Dozier since November. I'm not sure why it wasn't more publicized outside of that circle, and it was brought up by multiple Braves fans that perhaps there was little to the rumor because it was so under-covered nationally, but team officials have talked about how they've stayed with these discussions in spite of adding other pieces while they've moved on from Phillips after adding guys like Sean Rodriguez to the team. As far as Newcomb, looking just at stats and not knowing what's behind them can be a fallacy of scouting the stat line. The Angels rarely had Newcomb go deep into games, and the Braves immediately altered Newcomb's mechanics and his approach in his starts. It took time for Newcomb to work with his coaches to develop a feel for both. He closed the season dominating from August 1st to the end of the season, making 6 regular season starts, throwing 34 2/3 innings with a 2.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and a 13/44 BB/K ratio.
  9. Hmmm, I'm seeing that my view on Dodgers guys differs as well here, but that's a whole other discussion!
  10. There's not a lot of offseason ones out yet. A lot of guys I talked with around the game said he was the top guy in the Dodgers system, over De Leon and over Bellinger.
  11. I can say from scouting him that it is not an issue of strength in the accuracy.
  12. Remember that was from over the summer. My Braves top 100 (of the guys still in the system after a few offseason trades) had 6 pitchers and 4 hitters in the top 10, an even 10/10 in the top 20, and 13 pitchers to 17 hitters in the top 30.
  13. You're asking the wrong guy as I'm not a fan of acquiring Dozier at all for the Braves, so my offer would be insultingly low. For value in the game, a guy like Blair, who was a top 50 guy but that Arizona absolutely ruined and was forced to Atlanta and on the AAA/MLB bus too much last year to truly get things, could be a big piece. A guy like Rio Ruiz, who was in AAA all 2016 with very solid defense at third and excellent pitch recognition with developing power, would seem to be a good fit. Those would be guys close. Then you could take a look at the depth of middle infield for the Braves as another spot that could be in demand in the Twins system, and that could lead to Travis Demeritte being an interesting piece. If a trade was Blair, Ruiz, and Demeritte, that'd be a former top 50 overall and two guys who are in the top 25 of the Braves right now.
  14. I had Alvarez in my top 10 and De Leon in my top 25. That'd be an incredible haul for Dozier without the lotto ticket.
  15. In all honesty, the Twins would be a bad fit for Wisler simply due to their infield defense, especially sans Dozier. I'm just saying he's a fairly valuable pitcher overall.
  16. The Braves have been involved since November. Other teams have fallen off, so now the Braves appear a more real possibility, that's all.
  17. Nothing like Brewster, but he is not tremendously far off of Mason, and that is what scares me quite a bit.
  18. He was forced into throwing a different pitch combination than his most effective one. He's never going to be a bat-miss guy, but his stuff misses a ton of bats when he's allowed to throw his sinker/slider combo well. I had an AL scout actually tell me that if there was one pitcher in the Braves system that he'd like to get his hands on, it'd be Wisler because he could see him producing like Webb/Derek Lowe very quickly with the right instruction.
  19. It's called Roger McDowell, when you talk about Wisler. His approach to Wisler drastically hurt the effectiveness of Wisler's stuff. Once again, I compared him to Brandon Webb due to his ability to miss barrels when he's on, but he was forced into going away from his tremendous sinker/slider combo by McDowell for some reason.
  20. Yep, and BP writer David Lee has widely criticized much of that entire top 10 report. It was certainly not written by someone who took time to look at the organization at all or talk with anyone (including Lee) who had done scouting on Braves players. Regardless, his arm being "stretched" at short was not due to a lack of arm strength at all. It was always more an accuracy issue. His reports on the swing contradict multiple reports over the last few years and certainly my own as his swing has a very good path through the zone. Sometimes, even the nationally respected sources throw a dud, and this year's BP Braves list was definitely one of those.
  21. And they're not. They're going to trade excess MLB-ready pitching, much like most of their deals this offseason. Guys like Wisler/Blair would be the lead of a deal with other pieces being involved, but most likely guys who are scheduled for the AA/AAA rotation.
  22. It would most likely be Wisler OR Albies headlining a deal, not both. I think Wisler gets drastically undersold by many unfamiliar with him, but he's LOVED in the baseball community and would have been a top 10 pitching prospect if he'd not have had stats that made things look crappy in the PCL. His peripherals were tons better, and just a few years later, we can look back and see a league adjusted ERA putting him at a fairly elite pitcher. He still was the #11 overall pitcher in BA's rankings that offseason.
  23. Yes, the Braves have been the last team mentioned about 10 times this offseason on Dozier. Not sure if they were getting play here, but there's been plenty of discussion on Braves forums as they've been discussed on MLBTR and by Braves beat writers as being involved throughout the winter.
  24. Phillips was also a deal from November that finally got reported this week. There's been no further discussion on him since, regardless of the fun things Bowden hears in his own head...
