  1. Thanks for putting in all the work on this Seth! It's a great read and fun to debate. With regards to Michael. Does anyone feel that he fell for a reason and not just the injuries. His college statistics and his pro ball stats thus far don't look that impressive and as a first round pick you would think that he would be extrordinary at something. But he just seems to be average at best in most aspects. I think that Carroll's stats from last year with the dodgers is the most we will ever get out of our first round pick. I thought it was a bad take at the time and still fell that way. There were power arms I would rather have taken. But here's to hoping I'm completely wrong!
  2. How about an error free game today... The last 2 games have been ugly.
  3. Is anyone else thinking Hendricks might be ready to be called up again? AAA is too easy for him and since our season is tanking we might as well give him more time to figure out ML hitters. He will be a starter next season so let him work things out know.
  4. I don't mind the idea but in the minors aren't there often days where a game would be played with pretty much all relievers pitching 1-3 innings each? Obviously not often but occasionally you tend to see this. That's not much different than the article is proposing. At any rate, it's not s terrible idea. Could have some positive results but, then again, why not have the closer pitch te first the setup man pitch the 2nd maybe somedays you have a middle reliever take the 3rd/4th and let the starter pitch the final 6-7 innings. Just a crazy idea. While we are at it lets have the lineup be: Willingham mauer morneau Span doumit carroll plouffe dozier casilla That way a guy with some xbh potential can do that and be followed by a guy with singles potential who can hit him in? I realize the flaws with this thinking but just saying... Or just breakup the best hitters so we don't have spots in our lineup that you don't want up in the 8th/9th innings.
  5. If rosario can keep hitting and stealing I'd keep him moving with sano
  6. What about wilkin ramirez and eventually Valencia again and send down mastro and kamatsu. You still have revere who can be a 4th outfielder/spark off the bench/pinch-run, and ramirez who can hit for power while playing the corners/dh. Just a though but I think you could have a lot more MLB looking lineups and bench options that way...... I have a feeling Valencia will be back up fairly soon... Before all-star break? And if Plouffe gets his bat going we might have a consistent looking lineup (barring injury). Span dozier Mauer willingham morneau doumit valencia plouffe carroll
  7. I can see the Cabrera comparison though I don't think sano will hit for as much of an average. It would still be great if he reached that potential.
  8. What 19/20 yr old does sano compare to? Harper? He is a five tool phenom, sano is mostly a power hitter. His average will decrease as he moves up. Sano IMO will hit a very respectable .285ish when he is in the majors to stay. I think that would be great and the Twins will need that along with the obvious power he possesses. He won't be a Harper or Trout though. And there are other 18/19 yr olds in the minors that are just as big of prospects as sano. Don't get me wrong I wis he was ready now I'd love to watch him light up the majors for years starting now. It's just not possible. I would rather wait for him then have the twins do to him as Tampa did to delmon young
  9. Congrats to Walters! Great performance from him. Now let's see Diamond continue his good start with the big club this season and improve to 4-0
  10. I like how often Walters changes speeds. When they guess right they put a good swing on it but it is mostly guess work. Try to name the pitch or the speed, it is always changing in the same situations. Hes going to allow a few homers. But I think even when he cools off and he will, he can still pitch in the majors. I like this kid
  11. Why not bring up Wilkin Ramirez and send down one of them? The Twins would then have someone with pop to pinch hit.
  12. First, great article, it was fun to read. One thing that I find noteworthy when discussing Harper is his OBP. It is fairly impressive to have a .333 at 19 years old, especially when your batting average is down at .244. The Twins with higher OBP than Harper are Willingham, Mauer, Revere, and Span, with Doumit and Diamond (had to throw him in there) having the same as Harper. In my opinion, Harper moved fast through the minors, not only because of the hype, but also because he was pitched around more than most minor leaguers. He also shows a great willingness to take walks when most young players even veterans would want to swing. He might have a big ego but he has been up late in games with runners on and the score tied or trailing by a run or two and he will work the count and take some pretty good pitches. That in my opinion is the best trait he has shown so far in his young career. With that said, I really like Dozier and I hope he doesn't slump or completely stumble like Valencia did after a great rookie showing. I realize they are completely different players with different work ethics but just saying.
