  1. Apparently so.
  2. It happens occasionally with me - Internet Explorer 9.
  3. My guess is that this call is used by MLB for ongoing umpire instruction. Even seasoned professionals need a refresher course periodically, particularly in situations like this that are so unusual.
  4. Good thing somebody told Plouffe that went out - it would just cap the season if he had left the field by mistake and had been called out.
  5. Where do you find them? I've not had one yet. There are two stands - one on the main level, one on the top level. Both are behind home plate.
  6. Light the candles and pass around the cake!
  7. OK, so I'm watching the Twins game tonight against Cleveland, thinking about last night's game, and I had mixed emotions. I'm glad for the win, but it was not a well-played game - sloppy play on both sides. Ideally, I would like to watch a well-played game on both sides that is close but that the Twins win. If I can't have that, however, I'm trying to decide what's more important to me - a good game, or a Twins win? Anybody else have any thoughts? If you could pick between a) a close, well-played game the Twins lose, and a sloppy game the Twins win, what would be your choice?
  8. What was that about Florimon being our starting SS in camp next year? Is that carved in stone?
  9. Here we go! Aussie power!
  10. And give up the excellent turkey sandwiches they sell at the park? Those things are good!
  11. One could make the case that every game this team plays is a minor league game...
  12. If I understand correctly, that isn't allowed by MLB rules. They don't want bidding wars for minor league affiliates. I don't know how easy it is to "game" the system or not.
  13. We do have outfield prospects coming up so I would reluctantly agree to trading Span, but only if it immediately helps the rotaton. I would not trade him for prospects only.
  14. I wonder if that's more or less than the number still watching on TV.
  15. Awesome - we get to watch more of this. Overtime!
  16. I'm trying something different tonight. I've got the audio off, and I'm listening to Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake while watching the TV. The novelty has been interesting if nothing else.
  17. Usually I try to look for the best in people rather than the worst. Sometimes that's easier than others.
  18. Man, watching the Twins can be a real downer sometimes.
  19. Tell me about it! Stadium architects including local flavor in the ballpark design - what nerve!
  20. This is all going on the assumption that his inning count is what has caused his recent drop in performance. That may be, but let's not rule out that this might be who he really is. He had a great start, and is probably our best bet for a rotation role next year, but let's be honest and admit that his early season performance far exceeded his expected value going into the season. I play golf, and I believe firmly that, no matter how well I play on the first 15 holes, the last 3 will almost inevitably bring my score back to what it really should be.
  21. They also are involved with two other affiliated teams (Charleston in SAL and Hudson Valley in NYP) and a college summer team in Pittsfield, MA. I'm still assuming this is probably just an oversight and they stay together, but if one side or the other is seeking a new partner, it would be interesting to know who initiated the move - the Twins or the Miracle. Are there options in the Carolina or California leagues?
  22. Still waiting ... anybody else heard anything about this the past couple of weeks?
  23. If you are looking to get as close the field as possible. Look at Field box on Stubhub. These are down both of the baselines, past the infield dirt. Keep an eye on stubhub, you may not find first row for dirt cheap, but keep an eye out for the first 5 rows, as was mentioned as the game gets closer the prices usually drop. If you wait until the last minute, tickets in the first 5 rows may or may not still be available. I would think you can find them well below cost even now. dugout box is an option as well, but these tickets tend to hold their value a little longer, especially right behind the Twins dugout. good luck. The padded seats are kind of nice, though.
  24. I actually hope this doesn't happen. I like having a non-affiliated professional team nearby - kind of a plan B for seasons like this.
  25. And the magic number is down to 3.
