  1. 6 more outs boys, sit 'em down.!!!!!!
  2. It's not Tommy John but his season is over. Flexor Pronator Tendon, 6 month rehab.........................Damn!!
  3. Time to start building some confidence with the guys who are going to have to get us there. Like it or not these are the guys who are going to have to get it done for the most part.
  4. The only other word will be "surgery", sadly if that was the case, we would have heard it already. Be prepared Seth.
  5. Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not.....going....to....be.....good.
  6. Revere would never miss the cutoff man.....he can't throw it that far!
  7. Amen Elmo, I mean Jimbo, Nobody was complaining that Gardy didn't have the team ready to play in March, in fact they looked pretty damn good to me. It's about execution, the manager can't bat and can't field, he's put in three different lineups with the same results. THE PLAYERS HAVE TO GET IT DONE. It's been 4 games people, C'MON!
  8. There's lots, The Baseball Prospect Book, The Scouting Report, Baseball America and plenty of articles as he has come through the system. He's average at best, maybe that's good enough.
  9. No there is no can't miss guys in the way, just saying Doumit is better off being the DH and let Plouffe or Revere play RF, Revere at the very least is much better defensively and Plouffe likely would be as well. Morneau, when healthy is a better 1st baseman, if he was coming out of camp where did that leave Parmelee, RF? I don't think so. I'm not saying make changes, it's a hypothetical question because as we all know Morneau wasn't healthy enough to play 1st base. My opinion is just that the team is better with him there and Doumit occupying the DH spot, which is what Terry Ryan and Gardy hoped would be the case from the beginning.
  10. Ok, it's only been 4 games, maybe not fair but your view contradicts most books on him. Morneau is much more athletic, Parmalee is no Morneau, now or later. The fact of the matter is they can ultimately do better at 1st and still keep Parm's bat.
  11. I couldn't agree more, this team was put together with the intention of Morneau playing 1st and Doumit at DH. They are a better team with that scenario the majority of the time.
  12. I agree that he hasn't done anything to not deserve being here and yes this is all risk aside when it comes to Morneau. My thought was, had Morneau proved to be healthy enough to play 1st base, where would Parmelee have fit in? Sometimes DH and RF? Not at all? Personally I don't think he was expected to make the big club and might not have if Morneau was capable of playing 1st the majority of the time. That's an OK thing really.
  13. I know it may be quite some time (if ever) before it happens but getting Morneau back at 1st base would really help this team settle in. I have to believe that was what Ryan and Gardy were hoping for despite how well Parmalee played this spring. Doumit would benefit far more from being DH (which was supposed to be the plan) and occasionally spelling Mauer at catcher, without having to worry about RF as well, I believe it would help him at the plate. Having Plouffe and Revere get more time in RF without working in Doumit would also help things. I like what Parmalee brought last fall and in the spring but if Morneau was healthy enough to play 1st during the spring, I wonder what the plan for Parmalee would have been?
  14. Span CF Mauer C Morneau DH Willingham LF Valencia 3B Parmalee 1B Hughes 2B Plouffe RF Carroll SS And stick with it for awhile.
  15. Not to dismiss a well thought out observation but I think these are examples of a lack of professionalism, more than they are about heart. If you feel those are one in the same then fair ball but I think they are distinct from one another. There are a lot of young players on this club that are still learning what it takes to be a professional, that means everyday commitment and focus, over 162 games, that's a tall order and one that needs to be learned. It's why the best players stay in the game for so long, they show up everyday , that's mental, not something as intangible as something called "heart". People are bound to disagree but if guys like Morneau, Mauer, Span had no heart, why would they even bother to work so hard to come back to play? Why would Jamey Carroll work so hard to keep himself in shape to still be able to play at 38? Don't say money, that too easy, I think it's because they have quite a bit of heart. These guys want to win, plain and simple.
  16. Exactly, personally I'd rather have the team keep their cool and not act like a bunch of hot headed, petulant children just because things aren't going their way. These guys are professional athletes, you don't get this far without having a competitive fire, it just doesn't work that way.
  17. I respectfully suggest you become a Chicago White Sox fan, keep on keeping on.
  18. Ryan gets it, if the team is toast by June he'll be working the phone pretty hard, I have no doubt about that. Don't understand the big rush on Dozier, especially after only 4 games. I'm not a huge fan of Casilla but this team isn't going to contend this year so why waste a year with Dozier, Hughes will be playing second before long and we can bring up Dozier late season to get some big league at bats before next season. Carroll is clearly the utility man on this team next year.
  19. I'd say I'm an 8, a complete homer actually, sure I disagree with some things they do and at times they drive me bonkers but they're my team and I'd rather root for them than tear them down. Second guessing is too easy when you're sitting on the armchair recliner, discussion is fun but I stop short of pretending I'm qualified to run a major league baseball team. I' also not one for wishing people to lose their jobs, sure it happens but I would never hope it would happen to someone. The Twins have given us tons of great baseball to cheer about and plenty of bad baseball to cry about........it's the Twins way!!!
  20. Long-term multi-multi million dollar deals never make sense from a baseball perspective, or an any sport perspective for that matter. They are based on past performance that is rarely ever repeated, especially in the long term. Seth is bang on with the reality though, it's really the fans who drive them, this board would have lit up the Minneapolis night sky if the Twins had let Joe walk at the time the deal was made. The Angels are the darlings of LA for bringing Albert and friends and the Tigers are the toast of the town by ponying up for Prince..... if they don't win the big one, visit the forums in those towns to see if the deals are still worth it in a few years.
  21. I like Mauer. He was a great story, MN hometown and all that, back when he was great. He's not today. He wasn't last year. He might be again, but that seems less and less likely. I'd say it's much more likely that he never hits a dozen HR again in a season, and might not ever even hit .325 again. I am very fearful for the Twins re: this contract. Well Chuckjay, clearly the only option is to throw yourself off the nearest bridge........or wait longer than 4 games to throw the towel in completely on a former 3 time AL batting champion. Mauer can still bring to this team what few others can once he gets it going, which I believe he will.
  22. What exactly have you added, except some insistent notion that changing managers is the cure to this teams ills? How about you be accountable, what would you or any other prospective manager do to make this team better? Gardy has had his fair share of playoff failure but he keeps bringing the horse to water, at some point the players have to be the one's drinking. As far as this weekend went, he put three different lineups out there and none but a few executed in any way, I don't think he put them in a position to fail, they didn't play the way they are expected to play and no manager can do much about that.
  23. Seriously, 2 k's in the 8th inning following back to back double??? Hughes and Doumit haven't had a clue all day, need to pick it up.
  24. Sigh.........pretty discouraging , not end of the world stuff but just no plate discipline at all, not making Hamel work, too many swings off the plate and nobody seems capable of finding their pitch. To stay positive, the defense has been stellar, Willingham, Hughes, Burroughs and now Carrol have all made exceptional plays, that's encouraging. Gotta find a silver lining somewhere.
