  1. I think I would to... If I knew what they were.
  2. With Peralta on the mound... I would started Parmelee tonight. Parm handles sinkerballers pretty good.
  3. I'm here now... I'm usually a couple of pages.
  4. Game-time forecast: Partly cloudy with a 30-percent chance of rain. Winds blowing in from right field at 10-15 m.p.h. Temperature around 70. ChiTown is coming along with the lineups. Check This Space for great specials. Hey, Bri -- not sure what's special, but here you go ... Brewers: SP, Peralta Segura SS Braun RF Lucroy C Gomez CF Ramirez DH Davis LF Gennett 2B Reynolds 3B Overbay 1B Twins: SP, Correia Santana CF Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Willingham LF Arcia RF Plouffe DH Nuñez 3B Pinto C Escobar SS -------------------------------------------------- Things to Think About: 1. Fun -- 28 and 29... That's kinda fun. Yes... That's where our wildest dreams live after the past few years. A .500 Record... Alright... Let's throw a party. Just in case the sarcasm meter is going off while you read this. It shouldn't be going off at all. I'm happy with the 28-29 record and the team is currently 4 games out of first in the AL Central. There is plenty of baseball to go and one hot streak could bring the cops to the party after the neighbors complain. 2. Wily Peralta -- Tonight the Twins face Wily Peralta... and Wily is doing quite well this year. He spent the last year as an average starter at the age of 21. He's 22 this year and his numbers dropped with a 2.73 ERA thus far. Wily was born in the Dominican Republic... A place called Samana. Hanley Ramirez and Fernando Rodney are also from Samana. If you look at a map of the Dominican Republic... it looks like a Triceratops looking to the right and if that's the case. Samana is located in the horn. So... If the Domincan republic were ever attacked by a T Rex. They would use Samana and surrounding area to impale the attacker. Obviously, sometime during his youth an "L" fell off his first name (probably when the T-Rex attacked) and he was too lazy to find it and put it back. He didn't own a baseball glove until he was 11 years old and used to practice pitching by throwing a lemon. Sometimes he would use a lime and after he watched younger children licking the wall that he was throwing against... He realized that he had invented Sprite. Wily throws a hard sinker and he throws it again and again and again and again. How he learned to throw a sinker like that with a lemon... I have no idea. 3. Rain -- There is rain in the forecast tonight for Target Field. The rain is supposed to fall between 7th and 5th street and 2nd and 6th Avenue in Minneapolis. The Target Center and Graves Hotel forecast is sunny. 4. Oswaldo Arcia -- Just like the Brewers are happy to see Peralta take large leaps forward in his development. The Twins have to be happy with the way Arcia is swinging the bat right now. Last night... He got around on an inside fastball and managed to keep it fair and gone by a large distance. That is an impressive set of hands. Keeping that ball fair takes talent. When you see him do something like that you realize that his potential ceiling is quite high. It's a moment where you put the stats down. Whatever they say... they don't say enough... He's capable of more. 5. Muzak -- I just realized that Muzak isn't really around much anymore. It's mostly used as on-hold entertainment these days. You don't find it in elevators much anymore... I suppose that's progress. I'm thinking about this because I sat on hold for a little while today and listened to a Muzak Version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and I got a little nervous. It was the fear that whoever came up with the idea of Muzak may be coming up with another idea.
  5. I did and I was horrified when I came back after the game and read it. And it's doubtful that I can blame auto correct.
  6. That is awesome... Congrats to them and their physicalness.
  7. I'd say average but Ma must have felt I was an Orangutan.
  8. I remember my Mom telling me to pull my arm back in from the window when I was pushing the wind back with my hand. I remember asking her why. She said she didn't want them to get caught up in the wheels. True story
  9. The sad thing is: I don't know how you did that.
  10. Provus: That one is hit pretty good... Deep Drive... Gomez is going back... Outta Here... Home Run Hocking. Gladden: Surprising power from Hocking.
  11. Actually joke theft Is strongly encouraged.
  12. It was better than that. It was the Pitcher... Just la de da-ing across the baseline into Willingham.
  13. Chief and I are also coming. You might as well start shopping now.
  14. Atta Boy... Set Up and the Space to drive through in a game thread is perfectly played.
  15. Dont think for a second that she won't show up.
  16. Ummm... In either one... There are no shoes to lose.
  17. That would have won with ease.
  18. Unless you win a stuffed animal.
  19. I know I do... It helps with... (I've fallen into steep canyons of low brow)
  20. Ummm... I'm going with 111 people from Fayetteville Arkansas
  21. It's gonna rain... I had to mow. So... So far so good.
  22. Game-time forecast: Mostly clear. Winds blowing in from left field at 5-10 m.p.h. Temperature near 75. First you list a hitter and then you list a hitter who bats after that and another after that and another after that and another after that and another after that and another after that and another after that and another after that. Stop right there... You get no more. ChiTown will fill in the "Another after thats". Okay, Bri ... and here are the 'after thats' Brewers: SP, Estrada Segura SS Braun RF Lucroy C Gomez CF Ramirez DH Weeks 2B Reynolds 3B Overbay 1B Schafer LF Twins: SP, Nolasco Santana CF Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Willingham LF Arcia RF Plouffe 3B Suzuki C Pinto DH (<faints!>) Escobar SS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things to Think About: 1. Airplanes -- Typically when teams play the final games of a series. They board an airplane bound for different directions. The current 4 game series with the Brewers is different because both the Brewers and Twins have to leave Milwaukee and fly to the Twin Cities. I wonder if they flew on the same plane. I wonder if they hung out together in the same terminal... the same gate. I wonder if they gathered together and placed bets on the exact time flights from other cities would land. I wonder if Carlos Gomez correctly nailed the exact time... the flight from Miami would land and I wonder if Glen Perkins got into his face after he stared at the board too long afterwards. 2. Marco Estrada -- For the 2nd game in a row... The Brewers will be tossing a starting pitcher from Mexico. Marco was born in Ciudad Obregon in Northern Mexico... Just about 6 hours straight south of Tucson. Marco may have been born there but he moved with his mother to California as a young boy. I don't have exact figures but I believe that Marco and his mom were a couple of a handful of immigrants from Mexico that settled in California. He played high school baseball in the L.A. area and he played junior college ball in the L.A. area and College ball at Long Beach State in the L.A. area. He was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 6th round. His minor league career started shortly afterwards in Vermont. The very second he arrived in Vermont... he noticed that there was a difference between Vermont and the L.A. area especially after running into Larry and his brother Daryl and his other brother Daryl. When I've seen him pitch... he can strike you out. He can also lay some cookies in there for a team to enjoy. 3. Ricky Nolasco -- Hasn't smoothly destroyed opposition batters but he has kept the Twins within striking distance in 5 of his last 6 starts. His 5.70 ERA looks terrible but the numbers are where they are because of a few starts were he looked real real bad. Which Nolasco shows up tonight will go a long way toward winning tonight. 4. Aramis Ramirez -- Ramirez has been on the D.L. with a hamstring issue since early May and he is supposed to return to the lineup today in the DH spot. When you purchase a ham at a supermarket... They are typically bound by a string. The reason for this... the world has produced too much string and doesn't know what to do with it. The excess string has caused problems with many athletes forcing them on to the disabled list. Aramis Ramirez is back today and by being in the lineup... He becomes another weapon. 5. Advice from Elders -- My dad was always a good source of advice. He has lived a long time and that experience was always a gold mine to turn to. Lately... My dad has become much more forgetful but it doesn't mean that his advice isn't still valuable. One Day my dad took me aside and left me there.
  23. Obviously everyone has different fears but while it's clear that Correia has had a bad stretch. I also think you don't toss him aside because he is capable of an average stretch. I say you move Correia to the bullpen like the Pirates did two years ago and only because Trevor May it seems is beating down the door in Rochester. With the full understanding that May... May... struggle and not work out at all in the majors for quite a few starts and if that happens... Correia could be turned back to. I don't consider Deduno, Nolasco, Gibson or Hughes bad depth... I don't call them aces but I don't call them bad depth. As for Darnell, Meyer, Pinto and Gilmartin. I don't know... I haven't seen them pitch but see Kyle Gibson from last year. Young pitchers come up and struggle quite often. We are still in contention for the playoffs and I'm not ready to experiment at the expense of depth or the future at this moment. When someone gets hurt and they will... The time will come for either Darnell, Meyer, Pinto or Gilmartin. The way I see it and I could be wrong. I think the Twins should try to find a spot in the rotation for May and Correia is my current replacement choice. I'd do it carefully by keeping Correia close by.
