  1. So Tampa is one of those teams who uses "Openers". I was wondering why Yarborough only has 4 starts this year.
  2. Congratulations are in order to Jorge Polanco.
  3. Apologies if somebody has already mentioned this (just got home), but Miguel Sano has finally passed the Mendoza line.
  4. I remember ever since I was a little kid (early 70s) there would be talk every 4th or 5th season that the balls were juiced. By the end of the season the number of home runs would level off and the any noticeable increase overall by the end of the year was negligible. The league leaders would always end up between high 30s and mid 40s. Only one guy ever hit more than 50 in those years, George Foster in '77 hit 54 and it was a big deal. It wasn't until the players started juicing themselves that the numbers got outrageous.
  5. As Chris Attaberry just said, Keplar tied it twice and won it once.
  6. $#@!&!! That might have been the last chance to see a "Titanium Sombrero" in my lifetime.
  7. Maybe they'll walk Cron and Keplar to get to Sano.
  8. Is Brian Johnson's beer gut as big on TV as his mlb.com picture? (I'm radio only)
  9. OK this has to be a historic game I bet--two "Platinum Sombreros". That was Martinez' 5th. I'm obsessed with this now. There's also another Golden Sombrero (Michael Chavis). I'm craving green chile enchiladas.
  10. OK there it is then, the "Platinum Sombrero." I can go to bed now.
  11. Zack Littell is the last man standing. They better score here.
  12. From Baseball Reference: "A platinum sombrero for five strikeouts or a titanium sombrero for six strikeouts may be awarded but they are much rarer than a golden sombrero." We are entering into a world of exotic precious metals.
  13. One bad sign is that other teams have NO fear of Sano. The Red Sox pitched around Keplar to get to him, with great success. They will get nothing of value in trading him now, meaning they'll hold on to him way too long.
