Dillon Kyle Gee was born on April 28, 1986 in Cleburne, Texas.
The New York Mets selected him in round 21 of the 2007 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut in 2010 as a September call-up, impressing with a 2.18 ERA over five starts. Gee began the 2010 season 7-0 with a 2.86 ERA through nine starts, eventually finishing the season at 13-6 with a 4.43 ERA. He continued to pitch for the Mets through 2015, going 40-37 with a 4.03 ERA.
They designated him for assignment on June 3, 2015. Gee, who had been batting a groin injury, was displeased with the thought of moving to the bullpen after rookies Noah Syndegaard and Steven Matz began to emerge. He went unclaimed, and finished the season out with in Triple-A for the Mets. The Kansas City Royals singed Gee to a minor league deal during the off-season. He made their Opening Day roster, and went 8-9 with a 4.68 ERA that season.
Gee began the 2017 campaign in the Texas Rangers minor league system. He was called up to make four appearances, including one start. They designated him for assignment after he posted a 4.15 ERA over 13.1 innings. The Minnesota Twins signed Ge to a minor league deal after he cleared waivers.
Minnesota turned into sellers at the deadline, sending starter Jaime Garcia and reliever Brandon Kintzler off to new teams. This opened up a roster spot for Gee, who filled in as a hybrid starter and long reliever. He tossed three shutout innings against the Rangers in his Twins debut on August 3rd. Gee got a four inning save against the Milwaukee Brewers just four days later. It was the only save of his Major League career.
His first start with the Twins came in the second game of a double header on August 21st. Gee pitched six innings and allowed just one run against the Detroit Tigers, picking up his first win of the season. He finished his two month tenure in Minnesota with a 3-2 record and a 3.22 ERA over 36.1 innings, making three starts and 11 relief appearances. The Twins rallied to make the playoffs as a wild card team after selling off pieces at the deadline. Gee did not pitch in the 2017 AL Wild Card Game, which Minnesota lost.
He spent the 2018 season pitching in Japan, and then announced his retirement.

MIN 8, CLE 6: Twins Use Team Record 10 Pitchers In Victory
The Twins got a ridiculously short start from Bartolo Colon in what was a ridiculously long game against Cleveland, but Brian Dozier delivered a three-run homer in the eighth inning that lifted the Twins to victory. The Twins ended up using 10 pitchers, which was a team record for a nine-inning game.
KC 11, MIN 3: Big Dud from Big Sexy & Co.
Bartolo Colon had been remarkably consistent since joining the Twins, but he had a stinker of a Sunday afternoon in Kansas City. He gave up six runs in the second inning, giving the Twins very little hope to escape KC with a series win.
KC 7, MIN 6: Oh, So Close
If there was a way to measure a team’s competitiveness, it would be safe to assume the Twins would be among the top teams in baseball. They entered the bottom of the ninth down 7-4 Friday night, but battled back and got the game-tying run all the way to third base before finally falling to the Royals.
Recap: Polanco Homers Twice as Twins Split Doubleheader
The Twins fell just short of mounting an impressive comeback in the first game of their doubleheader Monday, but they made sure no such effort would be required in the second game. After losing 7-6, the Twins jumped out to a huge early lead in the nightcap and cruised to a 10-2 victory. So, in reality, they won the day 16-9. Shoulda challenged Chicago to a winner-take-all situation. Where’s that Pythagoras when you need him?
MIN 11, MIL 4: Twins Slug 5 Home Runs
Brian Dozier hit the first grand slam of the season for the Twins and both Max Kepler and Eddie Rosario hit two homers in an impressive display of power at Target Field.
Unfortunately, Adalberto Mejia was forced to leave this game early due to an injury, but Dillon Gee was outstanding out of the bullpen, earning his first career save for pitching the final four frames.
TEX 4, MIN 1: Twins Muster Just 3 Hits in Loss
The Twins managed just three hits and Joey Gallo blasted a three-run homer for Texas. That about says it all. Adalberto Mejia lasted just four innings, but that was in part due to the fact that his teammates made a couple of crucial misplays.
