We should consider ourselves lucky that Mauer only tapped into a FC, rather than his 13th GIDP of the season.

I was just feeling lucky for that reason.

And the luck pays off -- Willingham hits a walk off home run. Hammer time.

How long has it been since the Twins had a walk-off HR? I am assuming it was Thome against the Sox in August of 2010. I am going out on a limb and putting some positive mojo out there tonight. Either Plouffe of Span hits a walk-off HR.

Oh well... close enough.

Why Have him bunt when they are playing so far up?! He could have just blooped a single. Willingham!!! Great call by Dick!!!

I bet you meant to type "either Plouffe or Span scores on a walk-off HR"...am I right?

The walk-off is something that was badly needed. And if this triggers Willingham getting hot again, that could mean more wins.

If Mauer, Willingham, Mauer and Doumit could all get hot at the same time, the Twins could score a lot of runs.

Oakland just isn't a very good team. The Twins aren't really any better, but they're healthier--Cespedes instead of Cougill makes their club look much better. I'm not sold on De Vries, but he kept them off the board. Willingham is a better fit for this team than Cuddy, just because of ABs like he put up in the ninth.

I predict ESPN/BBTonight will rank Revere's ridiculous bunt hit higher on their highlight list than the Willy Walk-Off...

Was it 5 walks and 1 K? He will have to find a way to reverse that or he will be 1-2 bad starts from AAA for the rest of his MLB career. I think the best case is he keeps the damage to a minimum until we find something better. If things continue as they have for the first part of the season, that could be a while. I'm hoping (irrationally) for a little winning streak to at least remove some of the gloom from the season.

Actually, I'm still hoping, Liriano finally finds it, Pavano eats innings and is marginally more effective, Diamond and Walters hold it together, the lineup starts hitting as it should, and an easier schedule gets us to .500 by the end of June.

This guy has the math worked out for it:

Well I was WAY off! But I'm glad. Nothing wrong with a pitching battle (as long as we sneak out the win).
