a-wan Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I'm just shocked Pelfrey and his awesome downware arm angle suck. In his 5 seasons where he's thrown more than 150 innings his best ERA+ was 113. His other ERA+ were: 81, 107, 78, 77. That's the track record worthy of a two year deal.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Just thought this was interesting: Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 8m Mike Pelfrey threw 63 fastballs at #Rays on 4/23:89 mph: 490: 1191: 2992: 1893: 1. Today:88: 1089: 2290: 3091: 6. Down 2 ticks
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 The Twins are stuck with him. I sure he will have a few starts that look ok to give irrational hope that he might be a number 3 starter. There is no reason to sign a back of the rotation pitcher to multiple years. They are available every year. Hughes and Pelfrey need to be close to league average and Nolasco better than league average. If the Twins aren't right on 2 of 3, their winter was a failure that will have implications on future teams.
S. Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Did anyone ever actually think Pelfrey could be a number 3 starter? And I mean an actual 3rd starter, not the Twins' idea of a number 3 starting pitcher.
Brandon Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 This is good news for Johnson. If he pitches well tonight he might get to stick around while Pelfry is sent down....No pressure Johnson...none at all.

Until now. Thank you Mike Pelfrey for uniting everyone in wishing you a plane ticket, somewhere other than here, far away from a pitching mound in the major leagues.
