Hendry Mendez Might Be The Twins’ Most Underrated Prospect

The Twins have a lot of good outfield prospects, but don't sleep on Mendez.

While Hendry Mendez doesn't generate the same buzz as other Twins outfield prospects, his talent is undeniable, and it's gotten to a point where he feels criminally underrated.

Hi Sam. Might you know what happened to Mendez in the last year's Arizona Fall League? He hit a home run in first at bat and then a few days later he was no longer with the team. At the time I couldn't find an announcement with an explanation.

Either way, I'm happy he found success at AA and has a chance in St Paul.

The Google machine says it was a "personal matter." I couldn't find more info than that.

For someone who has been on the Mendez train since we drafted him I completely agree with you.  His bat skills are incredibly good.  It all comes down to increasing the line drive and fly ball ratios.   4 HR in a month for him is incredibly good.  If he can get to 20 HR a yr he becomes a very valuable prospect.   I believe he was moved up to AAA with all the injuries.
