  1. Dozier isn't a better hitter or defender than Justin Turner. Base running and durability, maybe but he's not a better player. I could also see Joc Pederson being better than Dozier going foward if he continues to improve like last season.
  2. Buster interviews scouts and front office personnel across both leagues for these rankings
  3. Why would the Dodgers love it? They want to acquire him.
  4. Willie Calhoun was drafted in 2015. Didn't start playing in the Dodgers minors until July
  5. Of course the guy with the MIN front office in his ear says this
  6. Speaking of Ruiz, 1:04 YOLO: Which of these super young catchers do you think has a better shot of becoming a "dude". Keibert Ruiz or Meibrys Viloria? 1:04 Eric A Longenhagen: Ruiz but I like them both
  7. Fangraphs chat 1:09 Adam: I am dialed up to 11 right now on Yadier Alvarez after seeing how effortlessly he can throw 99. Can you talk me down from that? 1:09 Eric A Longenhagen: No, I’ve already jumped. 12:51 Southern Doodle Dandy: Which is the most impressive fastball, breaking ball, and changeup that you saw in the minors last year? 12:54 Eric A Longenhagen: FB: Kopech/Alvarez BB: Anderson Espinoza CH: Quantrill? This one’s tough for some reason 1:09 Bob: I think everyone is expecting Bellinger to mash at OKC and get called up pretty early, how long can he sustain playing respectable defense in LF? 1:10 Eric A Longenhagen: Forever. I’ve spoken with scouts who think he could pass in CF. Dude is a freak. 1:10 Eric A Longenhagen: But he’s a 70 glove at 1B so I think that’s ultimately where he ends up. 1:32 YOYOma: do you see the twins getting a better overall prospect than de leon in any trade scenario involving dozier? 1:33 Eric A Longenhagen: Probably not. They could get De Leon + but probably not a guy I have ranked ahead of De Leon.
  8. Pedro Baez might be tough to watch and meh as a pitcher, but he'd easily be the Twins best reliever. With 4 years of control, that's valuable for a team like the Twins.
  9. Jon Sickels of SBnation is posting a Dodgers top prospect list later this week. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/1/1/14136368/los-angeles-dodgers-organization-discussion
  10. He pitched well after he came back from it though? 11 k/9 in the Pacific League is unheard of. The Dodgers are highly conservative with their young starting pitchers. I don't think like at inning pitch does much. Hell, Alvarez don't throw many innings.
  11. I like how you guys are finding every flaw for JDL, but then turn around and say guys like Josh Staumont and Archie Bradley, who can't throw strikes, are enticing
  12. "I just have to wonder if he is the right guy for that market. I guess I'll believe it when either they win a WS his way or he makes an actual big market, top prospects for top talent trade a la Epstein, Dombrowski, etc." Detroit is going to have a long ugly rebuild because Dombrowski went for it at every deadline. They also didn't win anything.
  13. Maybe but this is their first major decision. And let's say if the Dodgers come with a huge offer in February... are they really going to turn it down because of the fake deadline they put on themselves?
  14. The Twins should just walk away if they don't like the offers. Using media reports constantly to get things to cave is weak, IMO.
  15. If this is your attitude, you wouldnt be satisfied if the return included Bellinger.
  16. Some of you guys need to use context when looking at a prospect stats and age. First of all, next season will be his age 25 season. There's also the fact that he started pitching in 2013. In terms of the recorded starting pitcher fastball velocity in 2016 (min. 20 innings), Stewart is in the the 90th percentile. BA was throwing out Jacob DeGrom comps in the middle of the year for him. He's a late boomer with at least 2 big league pitches. This is exactly the type of the starters the Twins need.
  17. Dozier is their only chip, unless you want to do a prospect for prospect challenge trade. They need to be careful and cover all their basis, though if he's not traded by January, he's probably staying until July.
  18. I don't think it's embarrassing. The White Sox used it effectively with Sale with the Nats as the ploy team. The problem is that your in negotiations with Andrew Freidman and he's probably the last exec in baseball that I think will overreact to media reports.
  19. STL beat writer: MarkASaxon Seems #STLCards link to Brian Dozier was part of Minn's effort to extract max value from Dodgers, who feel their offer is already generous 43 mins ago - Twitter
  20. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VIpgjyzgxzc Looks like Alvarez is playing long toss. Nothing about that delivery screams concern or violent.
  21. I think most people would. The Twins either don't like JDL or Alvarez as much as the industry or Dave source might be right about everything else except Alvarez being included.
  22. Heyman: "— It’s no surprise that some suggest the Dodgers are being “stingy” with their top prospects in talks for veteran players, as LA values their top minor leaguers high. They made the right calls to keep NL Rookie of the Year Corey Seager and lefty phenom Julio Urias. But they are willing to part with righty Jose De Leon for Dozier. They are not willing to include top first base prospect Cody Bellinger or top young pitchers Walker Buehler or Yadier Alvarez along with De Leon."

  24. He had shoulder problems in college and last year. He's also a 2 pitch pitcher, who the league figured out.
