    A few questions. First off was Thorpe's performance just a bad one or is there concern he is hurting again. I understand he isn't going to be 100% after a nearly 3 year layoff, I just don't want to be too alarmed over a bad Thorpe outing. Secondly with Haley being outrighted will that finally allow the Twins to promote either Stephen Gonsalves or Fernando Romero to AAA? Both are legit and have proven themselves in Chattanooga but it seems less talented pitchers are blocking them in Rochester. Well Haley is gone so...you know. Lastly, with the trade for Jamie Garcia will that allow Brusdar Graterol to move up to Elizabethton? He seems to have the Fernando Romero effect of simply being too overpowering for the level of play. Just curious about these things.

    I don't get why Romero hasn't been promoted to Rochester. He has clearly been the best starter on the team for about a month or so. Romero is better than some of the pitchers on Rochester right now, it's time to reward his excellence.

    If the Twins trade for Garcia the trade better not include Lewis Thorpe, Stephen Gonsalves, Fernando Romero, or Felix Jorge. I'd be okay if the trade includes David Hurlbot, Aaron Slegers, Kohl Stewart, or even Nik Turley. Also, if we acquire Garcia which pitcher will we take out of the rotation? Could this help the Twins rid themselves of Kyle Gibson? I honestly wouldn't mind a rotation of Santana, Berrios, Garcia, Mejia, Colon (or Jorge/Gonsalves/Romero).

    Pass, especially if it means trading Jorge or Gonsalves (the Twins would be stupid to trade Romero). I can be behind trading Kohl Stewart. I also don't think Garcia would fare well here.

    I agree. I like Gonsalves and Romero, but a healthy and experienced Lewis Thorpe might be even better than both Gonsalves and Romero.

    Looks to me like both Romero and Gonsalves belong in Rochester (along with Felix Jorge). I don't get why the Twins want to drag their feet in the mud with promoting their best pitching prospects. Especially with Romero starting to get close to his "innings limit". Hasn't anyone noticed Romero getting stronger and better as the season wears on? Why not reward his success so he is in a better position to really make an impact for the Twins in 2018. As far as Gonsalves, I am just sick of the over conservative crap with "waiting" to promote him. Just get it over with, as of now I'd wager now pretty much 100% healthy he's a better pitcher than Nick Turley...

    Too bad rain ruined what looked like another great start from Romero. Seriously though I feel Gonsalves, Romero, and Jorge need to be in Rochester NOW!! Honestly both Jorge and Gonsalves could be September call ups this year and Romero could continue to improve with pitching in Rochester.

    I understand that. What I am getting at is if Thorpe ends this season in Chattanooga he will be set up for even better success next year since he would have some time to make adjustments from A+ to AA ball. It looks like he is pretty comfortable in A+ ball, and if he was to pitch more 5-6 inning starts his progress would look more impressive.

    Great to see another good outing from Thorpe. I really hope though that he'll be allowed to go between 5-6 innings soon. If the Twins are serious about putting Thorpe on the 40 man they should find a way to move him up to Chattanooga before he reaches his innings limit so he can get "a taste" of AA ball this year so he can be more successful next year.

    It stinks that Tyler Wells is hurt again. I was hoping he'd be promoted to Ft Myers. Hopefully though, these injuries Wells has won't be long term as he looks like a petty darn good prospect.

    I feel that both Gonsalves and Romero should be in Rochester ASAP. Gonsalves looks just like the pitcher he was last year with far better control. The home runs he gives up are a little concerning, but he is the type of pitcher who can make adjustments on the spot. Romero is literally heating up and now looks "comfortable" in AA, and if he moves to AAA he can pitch the rest of the season in Rochester working on his change up. I don't want him up in Minnesota if he hasn't improved his changeup as it's more important to keep him on the course as a starter rather than allow him to be a reliever with only a fastball and a slider.

    Wells is now 4-1 with a 1.89 ERA and has 80 k's in 57 innings. Sounds like he is ready for a promotion to Ft Myers. We don't want to keep prospects who are ready for the next level at the same level too long.

    https://www.milb.com/milb/news/minnesota-twins-stephen-gonsalves-posts-five-zeros/c-234596054/t-185364810 According to this write-up from milb.com Gonsalves has tweaked his delivery a little, and by doing so Gonsalves stated it will help with his long term health of his pitching shoulder and has helped get his fastball into the 90-94 mph range. Since he already started 12 games in AA last year (and 4 this year) he can move up to AAA anytime now. I don't think we need another 10+ starts in AA to see if he is ready to make the jump to AAA (plus there is an Aussie who might be ready for AA soon who may need to be on the 40 man next season).

    So it has to be asked: how long will it be before Stephen Gonsalves is promoted to AAA? I know he has only 3 starts, but his numbers look just as good, plus his control/command seems to be improved (we also saw this in spring training as well). With Gonsalves already having 14 starts in AAA, how soon before he moves up? Also, is there a chance Lewis Thorpe makes it to Chattanooga before he is shut down for the season? In 3 starts (albeit short starts due to pitch count reasons) he is already looking the part of Ft Myers ace.

    Glad to see Thorpe's first start went well. While I still think Romero can be a top of the rotation starter (despite his struggles this year), I feel that Thorpe could be even better as he has the potential for having a strong 4 pitch mix.

    Is something up with Fernando Romero? It just seems like forever since he last pitched. Is he injured or are the Twins just "managing" his innings?

    Any idea of Lewis Thorpe's ETA? How has he been progressing?

    It sure looks like Cedar Rapids has the best rotation top to bottom. Eddie DelRosario, Wells, Poppen, Beeker, and Beardsley is a pretty good starting 5 especially when a case can be made that 4/5 starters realistically could potentially deserve a promotion to hi A ball.

    And from watching highlights of Wells it seems for a pitcher 6'8" he has excellent mechanics and his windup is easy and very repeatable (unlike Alex Meyer who is only an inch taller). Hopefully Wells will continue to develop, it'd be nice for a "lower" prospect to exceed expectations.

    Not only that, but Berrios' numbers in Rochester is FAR greater than Tepesch's. If you promote anyone to take a spot in the Twins rotation it should be based on merit, and this year Berrios has EARNED that spot back, period. In my opinion Tepesch has earned no right to make the Twins rotation ahead of Berrios, none.

    FIrst off, Berrios better be called up when a #5 is needed. He is pitching head and shoulders better than he did in the minors last year early in the season. His walks are down and he looks more in control. I am not interested in seeing him in Minnesota by Memorial Day or later. He's earned his shot. Secondly it looks like Fernando Romero is now showing signs of adjusting to AA ball. Let's hope he starts really dominating soon (with less hits allowed, more k's, and better strike/ball ratio).

    Not surprised that LeBlanc struggled against tougher competition. To me LeBlanc is one of those pitchers that does good against lower competition despite weak strikeout numbers. Just look at last year, dominated at Cedar Rapids and struggled quite a bit in Ft Myers.

    Tyler Wells is sure improving off of last year for sure. After 4 starts his ERA is down to 1.88 and has 32 k's in 24 innings. If he keeps this up he very well might be in Ft Myers by June (provided some of Ft Myers staff is promotable to Chattanooga). I still think Del Rosario is the first Cedar Rapids pitcher to be promoted, but if Wells keeps this up I don't see how he could stay in A ball for a whole season.

    Didn't Tyler Wells strike out 14 in a 7 inning double header while only giving up 1 hit for Elizabethton?

    It looks like offensively that Chattanooga isn't very good. To have 2 starters (Romero, Turley) pitch as well as they did and not get a W looks kinda bad. But on the positive it looks like Romero is coming around, if his walks continue to go down I think he will look even better.
