  1. on his elbow injury "It started bothering me later in the season in 07.......and we got to August and I noticed my slider wasn't sharp and I just felt like, a dead feeling in my elbow, and I went in and I wanted to get an MRI, and.... we never did that, and they prescribed me a lot of rehab, so they shut me down with 3 weeks left in the season..... and we did rehab the whole winter and then I came back and I didn't feel much better and I ended up blowing it out on May of 08." on velocity and coming back from TJ "I relied a lot on the deception.... and that is still doing well for me now....the ball kind of sneaks up on a lot of guys.....it's 92 but ya know it might look like 99, because they can't really pick it up, especially to the right-handed guys. I came back in 2010 and my whole plan was let's get a good half year down at AAA or wherever it is, AA or wherever and build up arm strength, you know I missed 24 months in between games.... and my whole thing was I wanted to pitch..... and I had a pretty good spring.... and sure enough I made the team and that was probably the worst thing that could have happened to me that year. I wish I could have just went down to AAA and pitch my butt off every other day and built my arm strength back up..... my velocity then it was at first 84, 85, there were some flashes were it would be 88, 89 , but it was just kind of a struggle and I wish I could have been able to pitch a little bit more."
  2. Can you or anyone remind me who they brought in from outside the organization?
  3. If people caught this on ESPN, Neshek eluded to two wrong decisions made by the MN Twins medical team. 1) Not getting an MRI on Neshek's throwing arm at the end of 2008, which he stated he had requested. Instead deciding on a rest and rehab program. 2) Starting him back in the big leagues in 2010 out of Spring Training following surgery, as opposed to building arm strength in AAA. He stated that in hindsight, this "was the worst" possible scenario for getting back to full strength. Unfortunate to hear how he was mishandled. We know he's not alone. I hope they can get their act together soon.
  4. Bold Prediction: He has injury which is discovered by Pittsburg staff. Undergoes surgery. Rebuilds career out of the bullpen. Bounces to the Nationals, Twins trade 2014 draft top catching prospect to bring him in as bulldog-type closer
  5. Do you guys want to take a shot at ranking the Twins position by position vesrsus the rest of MLB? Like a 2 second off-the-top-of-your-head guess. example Angels Center Field =1st of 30 teams ie. Mike Trout Below is the Twins power rankings by position put together by fangraphs according to 2014 projected WAR Dont cheat!! Catcher-24th 1st -14th 2nd -23rd 3rd -29th SS -28th LF -21st Center -30th RF -21st DH -14th (of 15, AL teams)
  6. i'd like to hear it from the horse's mouth, that being Dr. James Andrews. All we have heard is the Twins brass politicing, "well, Andrews said to rehab." Let's get a reporter on the phone with DJA. Bonnes?
  7. Amen. my sentiment too. Also, they knew about it in October not November.
  8. Pitching is so unreliable, basically always the chance of being an inning away from Tommy John. "you can never have too much pitching," comes to mind. I don't see any pitcher as being the most important piece, unless they stay healthy and it turns out they are the most important piece. Makes me happy to see a strong top ten, even after graduating perrenial top tens, Aaron Hicks, Oswaldo Arcia, and Kyle Gibson. If you added those guys, it'd look like: #10 Hicks #9 Gibson #8 Pinto #7 Berrios #6 Rosario #5 Stewart #4 Arcia #3 Meyer #2 Sano #1 Buxton
  9. "It might even make Correia immediately tradeable for additional talent." I'll give you (24) 1989 Gary Sheffield Donruss Rated Rookie cards and an unopened 1894 Topps (20) card pack, pink dried up bubble gum stick included, for Kevin Correia. #likelytalentavailableforyouroverpaidcrappystarterimeaninningseater
  10. I don't get the "Buck to Minnesota" rumors. First of all, Joe Buck isn't even a catcher, it's Tim McCarver; Joe Buck is a play-by-play announcer. And Secondly, Tim McCarver is way past his prime at 72. If they are looking for an "old-timer" catcher, I'd suggest Bench. Also, I'd like to see Garza back in Minny.
  11. Nice collection of information, though I think the "back stories" that you included are incomplete. David, Ortiz "The Twins non-tendered him more than a decade ago and no other teams claimed him." He had the 5th highest OPS by the age 26 season of any Twin in history. No other team "claiming him," doesn't let the Twins off the hook. They misjudged his talent which was under their noses and under their contracts. "Hardy had his injury-plagued season with the Twins and I’m sure they’d love to have given him another shot. " They could have given him another shot, he was under contract, remember? It was a bone-headed trade, don't try and justify it for the Twins. I'm not saying the Twins have botched roster moves without reason, but let's not ignore the fact that they have long been making some decisions based on factors devoid of a talent-based approach, see "good clubhouse guys," "staying on the field," "playing the game the Twins way." Money plays into the equation and you can't blame them for letting guys walk for a big payday, but not everyone not named M&M needs to get locked down and paid elsewhere. Making decisions based on being a good guy isn't going to win you games. Making decisions based on injury history which doesn't accurately predict future injury isn't going to win you games.
  12. i was trying to find some info on the Perkins situation with from two years ago and struck out. Can someone remind me what and when that all took place? I am referring to Perkins filing a case against the Twins based on his serivce time and arbitration eligibilty.
  13. oh yeah, a side note. after playing horse shoes for about 4 hours at a family reunion, I got a serious case of the Yipps. I couldn't get anywhere near the pin. I was holding on too long and throwing it straight up or I was letting go too early and throwing worm burners. I never throw horse shoes so I figured it was muscle fatigue after 4 hours. That being said, it got in my head in hurry.
  14. how did you get over the yipps? Would you attribute the condition to muscle fatigue followed by anxiety or something else? My buddy got a bad case of the yipps in high school. Our coach, probably not knowing enough to recognize this as a baseball "condition" did, in my opinion, the worst thing he could have done. He shut down practice and made him throw over and over in front of everyone. We couldn't help ourselves from being amused. Poor guy never really got over it, fortunately he was a better hockey player. I'm just curious. The yipps can get to some of the best players, see Chuck Knobloch, Alex Wimmers etc.
