  1. On his way out as our closer? Yes. I think so. I would absolutely love to see this guy succeed as much as anyone. On his way out as a very good Twins reliever? No. I just feel like a year or two from now, we could be in a very similar situation to the one that we are in with Jepsen right now. When Nick Burdi (or other, see above) comes in and racks up 6-7 saves (striking out the side with 102 mph fastballs) while Perkins is injured, and Perk comes back and struggles, it would only make sense. Perkins could be a very good 7th or 8th inning guy.
  2. Glen Perkins' time as the dominant closer of the Minnesota Twins is neearing its end. I would say he MAYBE has one more year of gas left in the tank. There is also the fact that the Twins minor league system is currently stocked with plenty of power arms, something that was very uncommon in the past. I expect the time will come where Molitor is forced to move Perk into more of a setup type until his contract runs out. So who's our guy? Who is the next dominant Twin City closer? The candidates: Nick Burdi Alex Meyer Tyler Jay and some more (second tier) candidates..... J.T. Chargois Trevor May
  3. In 18 games (small sample size, I know) for Fort Myers, Jay has a 4.15 ERA and a 3:1 strikeout to walk ratio. At this point, what are the chances that he develops into a decent starter?
  4. 1. Miguel Sano (If he stays there) 2. Trevor Plouffe (If he isn't traded and Sano moves) 3. ? Who is number three? Hypothetically, five years (Plouffe is long gone) from now, it is decided that Sano is no longer fit to play third. He must shift over to first. Who (in our current organization) takes his spot? This is a hypothetical thread trying to prove the point that the Twins have no depth at third base below the major league level. Please don't bash. I realize that in five years we will have a whole new influx of minor league talent. I'm talking right now.
  5. Does anybody else love this idea?
  6. Uhm yeah he's a bust. Of all the things that the Twins can do this offseason, this needs to be near the top of their list. The amount of talent he could be blocking is enormous, both in the rotation (Jose Berrios anyone?) and potentially the bullpen. Realistically, how can we get rid of him? Is some sort of a swap for James Shields (Austin Hedges?) one of our only options? What else do we have at this point?
  7. Okay so Terry Ryan did something very Terry Ryan-esque and shut down Jose Berrios after a dominant year. IMO he deserved the promotion a month ago. This being said, how far into 2016 does he get the call up? Opening day? May? June?
  8. How many HRs can we expect out of Kepler in his prime?
  9. Not that this matters, but MLB.com has Kepler graded at a 50 for defense. (average) Rosario is graded a 45. (slightly below average)
  10. How soon can we expect Buxton to be hitting third? Three years? Five? Eight? Who is more likely to take his spot? Aaron Hicks, or Nick Gordon?
  11. Aaron Hicks is finally looking like he could turn out to be the player that he was supposed to be. He has the OBP of a top of the order talent, but he also has great power potential. I could see him hitting 20-25 homeruns eventually. Where do you guys envision him long term? Assuming Buxton is hitting leadoff, I could see him sliding into the two spot and moving Dozier to third.
  12. Do you have any trade ideas that you think might actually work? We need a catcher.
  13. This trade was rumored at the deadline. I don't know how it could be considered a video game trade. If you take Liriano and Santana out then you are left with the rumored original proposed deal. Maybe that deal seems more realistic.
  14. Assuming we make this trade, what happens to Plouffe? Who is interested? Do we maybe shop him for some solid relief prospects? What happens if Colorado still has significant interest in Kyle Gibson? Do they have any prospects that might be of interest to us?
  15. Does anyone have a better substitute for Liriano? (Someone we could actually use)
  16. Minnesota receives: SP James Shields C Austin Hedges OF Rymer Liriano San Diego receives: SP Ricky Nolasco RP Alex Meyer OF Oswaldo Arcia SP Kohl Stewart SS Danny Santana Does this trade go through? Who needs to be added or subtracted for this deal to happen?
  17. No I'm talking about Danny.
  18. There were lots of Padres fans hoping to acquire Santana from us before the season started. Is think this is a really great idea. Is it realistic though?
  19. I like this trade. What are the odds that this still happens in the offseason? Who is likely "XXX"?
  20. We need to find a team in need of a second baseman who has a near MLB ready catcher. If they're rebuilding, we give them Polanco. If they're contending, we give them Dozier and get more in return.
  21. I think Polanco profiles excellently as a 2B prospect given his below average arm. Assuming we keep Dozier, he could be trade bait. Right now MLB.com ranks him just as high as Nick Gordon, whom I think is our long term solution at shortstop.
  22. You're right. My bad.
  23. Names? Who else is included in this trade?
  24. How much interest would the Mets have in this trade? Does this trade move Arcia back into our outfield of the future? Or does it just pave way for a guy like Adam Brett Walker? What third prospect of ours would be a good fit for the Mets?
  25. Who would you suggest? Do we need to include anything else?
