  1. Yours is a good question. I would like to read more analysis about which teams need third basemen.
  2. Great may be an overstatement, but I agree with your sentiment.
  3. No one can predict the outcome of individual baseball games. This one or any one. The margin for error just is too small, and there are too many bounces and lucky breaks to account for. The Twins are down 3-1 (perhaps they'll be down further in a minute). It is what it is.
  4. The math on this is beyond me, but it would seem that on average there would be more teams bunched near the middle (mediocre records) than teams bunched at the top or at the bottom, therefore the second wild card will result in more ties or even three-way ties.
  5. What do you rinse with? Scotch?
  6. Maybe tonight we'll set the all-time Twins Daily record for number of posts, which is?
  7. Could Dozier win a Gold Glove? (I seriously haven't compared second basemen. How about somebody smart chiming in.)
  8. E.g. if the Twins get eliminated, Kepler and Buxton both start. It happens.
  9. he he. I was just being polite.
  10. I have to say that MLB's solution to a 3-way tie WC situation is absurd, and it is the result of the absurdity of having a second wild card. I don't hate it, I just think it's nutty. 162 games ... comes down to playing 163 and 164, then a one-game playoff????? BS.
  11. You have taken my rough views (which I had thought were refined) and refined them into shape. Thank you.
  12. I thought I had my "OH CRAP" blocker set on my computer. I'll have to see if it's been disabled.
  13. The Twins backs are up against the wall yet again. Even if they "win out" they may not win the Wild Card, because 1) The Angels are playing the Rangers who just clinched, and everyone knows what happens to teams that just clinched: they let down mentally, they play a few reserves, they get ready for games that really matter. 2) Houston plays the Diamonbacks (nuff said?). 3) However, The Twins play The Royals who have also clinched (just not recently), so they may have have some let down issues as well. 1) Win game 1. 2) Win game 2. 3) Win game 3. 4) Stars align, chips fall, confetti gets thrown and champagne drunk - by one? two? or three teams? Fun to watch.
  14. Rangers lead Angels 4-1. This could be a good night.
  15. Bert just said that Santana tried to picket. What is his beef?
  16. On the other hand, MLB teams have grounded into approximately 4500 double plays this year.
  17. Kind of like this is a must win, but it's not really a MUST win, but damn, they really must win this one!
  18. I'm not bashing, but 2 things: 1) Mauer when NOT HITTING WITH RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION: .241. 2) Plouffe and Mauer have now combined for 50 double plays grounded into. (I wonder what the teammate tandem record is?)
  19. I don't fault Molitor. Duffey is good. He got beat. Move on.
  20. Whatcha gonna do? Hicks' OBP in the last 20 games is .293. These are the cards we have been dealt.
  21. Sano has hit 2 home runs in his last 24 games.
  22. Maybe there should be a "fan challenge." We challenge the integrity of Pelfrey at a margin 9-1, and so the umpires say he must be pulled from the game.
