  1. Sano is a generational type player, it doesn't matter how good the pitching is, he will adjust to it. If his defense is what they say it is, there is no reason why they should keep him stuck in the minors when in all likelyhood, Morneau and Willingham will be gone and only Mauer will draw fans. Can you imagine the buzz Sano will bring to Target Field? He will instantly fill seats and guess what guys, the Twins are going to have to back up the Brinks truck anyways, what the hell is the difference if it is a year earlier. I hate when people compare Hicks to Sano because they are apples to oranges. Hicks never batted about .300 in any year in the minors. There was absolutely no reason for the Twins to start him in majors but I do believe with Mastrioni being hurt, it forced their hand. Sano is on an entirely different stratosphere compared to Hicks. He flat out hits and produces runs, something the Twins lack (sans this last week). IMO, he deserves to play day 1 next year and should be called up after the AA season is over. One thing to note. AAA pitchers are better than AA but AA pitchers have more upside and more than not, house teams most prized prospects.
  2. That is a single stat, most of which for a catcher are tough to calculate. I've never seen Pinto catch before but Butera is excellent behind the plate. He calls a great game, he receives the ball with the best of them, blocks the ball very well and has a strong, accurate arm. There was a reason Pavano had Butera catch for him and IMO, I believe Pavano wasn't getting the lower half of the zone called strikes when Mauer catches. That was been a concern of Mauer's from day one, since he is so tall, it is tough for umpires to see the bottom of the strike zone.
  3. Buxton is probably hitting the wall. He's never come close to playing this many games in a year and eventually it wears on you. He also jumped up to +A which is a notorious pitchers league, just another level of adjustment similar to what Sano is going through. He is 19 years old, let's not forget that. He isn't a robot.
  4. He's dominated the college ranks and has been durable. The Twins would be silly not to draft and over pay for him. They will have the money to sign him or trade if Boras becomes too big of a headache but to avoid a player of this caliber because of Boras would be insane. Get the best player available and move forward.
  5. How many from NB will be moved to Rochester?
  6. Can we outright him to AAA to add depth to our farm system? Seriously, how is he any better than Walters. Swarzak, Devries, etc? I've been on board with TR's moves up to this point. If you've decided 2013 is a wash, then don't make this move. If you want to go for it in a division that isn't deep, there are ample opportunities to grab a #2 and spend some money. But don't play the band aid approach as you are wasting your owner's money and fans time.
  7. Having a cannon in the outfield is highly overrated, especially those players who have limited range. With Revere, he gets to balls most guys don't, cuts off probable extra base hit opportunities and has really good footwork that allows him to get rid of the ball quickly. I'd take a decent arm with great accuracy over a cannon with mediocre accuracy anyday. How many times during a game do outfielders get a chance to throw a guy out? Maybe every other game?!?
  8. Seth, I know the Twins are light on top notch SP in AAA. Can you give me a few names to watch all season in the lower levels? Do any of these guys have front of the rotation stuff? Thanks!
  9. Fanatic Jack, I am pretty sure Terry Ryan has a lot to say on player promotions along with the entire Minor league staff. Gardenhire has stated many times that he would like to see Dozier up with the big club but to skip a level doesn't happen very often. I have a feeling if Dozier plays well in AAA, there may be a call up but not until after the date to avoid the super two, sometime in May.
