  1. While I would not argue that Plouff is the overall better player, he is established at that position. It happens a fair amount that when a team has a player they want up now, they find a place for them if they are blocked at there native position. It does usually happen at least a few months before they get called up (roster management), but it's certainly a common enough practice. Like a few have pointed out it seems to me it's a four player juggle. If I were the manager, I'd prefer to see Sano get the majority of the starts at 3rd and playing right when Mauer doesn't with Plouff splitting time with Park at first. Just a thought.
  2. I think it's telling that as winter meetings are coming to an end Sano was recalled from playing winter ball. Despite the lip service given to the Sano to outfield move I think they were trying to move Plouff and Ryan just didn't get an offer that he felt was worth it. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the -out of options- Santana were the opening day center fielder until they feel Buxtons bat is ready to play.
  3. I believe that moving Hicks could have had as much to do with keeping Santana, who they still seem to have some belief in, as anything else. That they filled an area of need with the move is a bonus.
  4. Just curious, is anyone keeping track of runs given up by Tori or the outfield in general?
  5. Wow! While I know that they are not quite major league ready, this starting rotation is much more intriguing than the actual Major League rotation. While I like Hughes and Gibson I would make a wholesale swap of the rotations just because I could live with the occasional bad outing from guys with salaries that are not in the millions and are learning. When the guys we have up now do that it's just going to kill me inside a little, especially knowing what talent they have so very close.
  6. I am so disappointed that the Twons chose to move Pelfrey out of the bullpen, I was actually excited to see if putting him in the pen could actually make him a valuable piece. When I read the headline my first thought was "great, now there's a spot for Meyer in the rotation" ...sigh... It seems like they want to loose 90 again AND give us no reason to watch.
  7. Wow, a lot of arguing about the least meaningful fringes of the roster. I do have to agree with Gleeman though, it would have been nice to see one or two of the contended spots go to a prospect instead of mediocre aging player x. Maybe, just maybe a player with upside could show something instead of just keeping the roster spot warm.
  8. Impatient for spring training to begin

  9. Milone is the guy you've given the highest odds yet with Pelfrey coming in second. Quite honestly I think Pelfrey has a better shot. Personally I am hoping the one candidate you haven't covered yet comes to spring training all together and vaults forward from his late season performance last year. Trevor May is my hope to grab the job and run with it and hopefully the Twins and Alex Meyer with both be ready when either someone falters or gets hurt. That being said, I don't expect the Twins to be like the Dodgers and throw money away so I am wondering aside from May and Meyer, do any of the other candidates have options remaining?
