  1. If Hendriks struggles is Diamond a candidate a candidate for the 5th starter?
  2. Thanks for the report, Wimmers is a guy a lot of us are hoping will develop into a solid starter for the Twins in the next few years. Guerra has been really successful out of the bullpen, I am a little surprised he started back at New Britain. He is on the 40 man roster and I would think he would be a candidate for a Sept call up.
  3. I think whether Casilla should have been given another chance is debatable but at this point they need to let this play out. Let's see where they are at in a month. As a practical matter, there is no way they are going to give up a year of team control over Dozier at this point, nor should they.
  4. Regarding the original question, I think it will probably take another season like last year before Gardy is on the hot seat and maybe another bad season next year before the Twins decide to do anything. This organization is loyal and is reluctant to make big changes, I think that is mostly good but there is a point when someone high up in the organization recognizes that changes are needed. It is amazing how many areas fans are really frustrated with regarding the organization: manager, hitting coach, pitching coach, organizational philosophy on hitting and pitching, etc. Not saying fans are completely right but there are enough issues popping up that at least the team needs to reevaluate itself. Jeff
  5. The thing with most occupations is that they weed you out quickly if you are not going to make it. Here it takes many years and the chances of making it are very low. I don't feel sorry for the players, they are adults making their own decisions and the upside for those who do make it is incredible. However I do have a lot of respect for them because of the sacrifices they are making to follow their dreams. I don't think I could have done it even if I had the talent to give it a try. By the way, re AAA, my understanding is that if you are not a minor league free agent or on the 40 man, the pay is still really low. Our neighbors son was making 2200 per month last year at AAA according to the dad.
  6. Thanks for doing this, it is interesting to see the differences in how some prospects are viewed.
  7. Liriano/Blackburn/Hendriks all seem reasonable but on the optimistic side especially when taken as a whole. It is not like you are projecting some dominant staff, but I think the starting pitching this year could be horrible.
  8. Really cool story, thanks for posting. I too am hopeful for Wimmers, the Twins must see something to promote him already, I would have expected a couple of months at Fort Myers to see how he is doing.
  9. I think that is the key and the assumption of most here that he is a 4th outfielder. He has some important strengths but the arm and lack of any power have people questioning his upside. I would like to see him stay and I think he can get a fair amount of action filling in for Span and Willingham, as well as late game replacement in the outfield and as a pinch runner.
  10. It is fun to project these things even though we all know that a whole lot will change. I feel much better about the future of the position players than the starting rotation, hopefully Gibson and Wimmers can get past their issues and develop into solid starters. If the projections hold up (or at least mostly hold up), the Twins would be set up for a long window because many of the key players would just be entering their prime and would be under club control and at relatively cheap rates for a number of years afterwards. I could see a window of 2016-2020 or longer. BTW, Appel, Gibson, and Wimmers will all be two years younger in 2015 than you list here. Jeff
  11. Good to see the high rankings on these players, But i am a little surprised on Harrison who has yet to even play rookie ball. Re Rosario, how difficult is 2nd base to learn? It would really work out well for him and the Twins if he could stick at 2nd. Jeff
  12. Yea, that is ugly. Ben Revere the third most valuable position player on the team? Wow.
  13. Would Sioux Falls work? They already have a team that plays in the Northern league or whatever it is called now so they might be happy with what they got. Jeff
