  1. Oops... tried to delete, but oh, well... The debate, it seems, is whether or not Mauer fits the mold of a prototypical 1B.Yet, in the SABR era, in terms of OPS, he's a machine. Who would say no to his production, regardless of position? (But only really a question at 1B, because of tradition...) The present question is the Twins' lack of power. The future question is the HOF one. Different animals. Since Mauer qualifies for HOF as a catcher, his 1B numbers will basically pad out his hitting. He's just behind Thurman Munson @ #12 for catcher (JAWS) according to BB-Ref as is. Too bad for the switch in positions, but it's not like it hasn't happened before- how many positions did Harmon Killebrew cycle through on the way to the HOF? Was that held against him?
  2. A 2016 WS Title would still seal it...
  3. The story, as far as I know it, is just as Dave says... film fest schedule/timing went wrong. But, Dave in the early days was under the radar, and so off the leash. He just did whatever he wanted, and got away with it. There's a Carson influence, too- middle-America types and dry humor. Think of Larry 'Bud' Melman getting his Warhol 15 minutes, or 'Small Town News', etc. I think Letterman is a true baseball fan, and combined with that small-town sensibility, it just came together in a perfect storm. Payette! Anyway, where else do you see something like this? And Bob Allison and Jim Kaat, too? Golden. Glad everybody liked it, this was a treat for me, too. Might help me through dark moments in the next off-season...
  4. With Letterman announcing his retirement this week, lots of 'best of' articles have appeared, but nothing can top this, imho. Pure genius, and maybe this will help you get into the spirit of Opening Day~ enjoy! http://www.kare11.com/video/947735922001/0/David-Lettermans-Harmon-Killebrew-Night While just 25 minutes, it's pure gold. Anybody have a link to the full show?
  5. Review the review. Or, tag up, then review. Then review again.
  6. Gallons of rubbing alcohol flow through the Strip?
  7. Everything Falls Apart...
  8. T.C.? He (she?) catches balls in the mouth. There's something troubling, but also impressive about that.
  9. Or, on the other hand, one could point out that: a) Gardy is one of 2 Twins managers with 1000 wins Gardy is the only Twins manager with 1,000 wins, AND a winning percentage. Bill James?
  10. Thielbar... where's Tonkin?
  11. This is just the 'rinse cycle'. Hang in there...
  12. 9 runs? Wow, Twins put some crooked numbers up. Original concern was pitching, then offense. Wha happoned?
  13. Now here's something we hope you really like!
  14. You have uttered the N-word. Heston on the beach. Those are The Before Times.
  15. Well, obviously a Big D game here at this point... oh, and a little offense wouldn't hurt. P-Flo to bail us out...
  16. And so, my remark... Nolascoo hasn't looked sharp today, doesn't seem to have an out pitch. So, how long do you run him? I know Gardy's M.O., but we have a good 'pen
  17. Colabello is on fire, Suzuki is quieting the non-believers, and Kubel... well, I can only say he is becoming an interesting (though productive) question mark.
  18. Any thoughts on Nolasco NOW?
  19. Rose goes in the front.
  20. Any thoughts on Nolasco so far? Also, the replay situation...
