  1. Except that this is the exact logic that the Twins are already using with Mauer.
  2. I thought it was odd that there was such a delay in announcing who was going to the Reds in the deal.
  3. I think with the latest rumor that Sipp is looking for 3 years at no less than $5 mil a year takes him out of the running for the Twins. I am mostly concerned with having another ML-ready lefty. I would have to guess that the Twins will settle for resigning Cotts to a 1 year deal (if he can't get more years). I was surprised at the earlier rumor that the Twins were not interested in Thorton (yet another short term stop-gap option).
  4. Soria to the Royals? Lowe and K-Rod to the Tigers? Twins are falling behind on the bullpen chase in the central.
  5. Regardless of the logjam, it is wise to hold onto Plouffe until Park is proven. Sano is ticketed for 1B once the albatross is gone anyways. If he can survive in the OF for a few years it would benefit the team. He may not be the best OF, but we have to remember who has been patrolling the OF for the last several years. I doubt Sano will look like Nunez, Big Willy Style, or Arcia out there.
  6. With all the holes to fill on this team, we post a 1B/DH? This move would have made a lot more sense if we were talking about how this forces the trade of a 69R/10HR/66RBI aging, mediocre 1B rather than a coming of age 74R/22HR/86RBI solid defensive 3B. I am not re-opening the "Mauer should be traded" argument. I know that will never happen and I will always be a fan. The point is, this move doesn't make sense given the current roster makeup. Teams will now line up and gladly take Plouffe and Vargas off our hands for a much reduced price because we really have not option but to trade them.
  7. I was at the Red Wings game last night in Durham. A nice pitching performance by Dean. Of two hits, the first one he gave up was a bunt single. Nothing hit too hard againts him. Willingham, despite going 0-3, did hit a ball very hard to the gap in left-center that was run down. Parmalee looked good in his at-bats. Hicks looked completely lost last night. I also though Pinto had good at-bats last night.
