1. Where in the world did you see this? As an aside, I'm not convinced that Gonsalvez is even going to get slot.
2. 6 of Twins top 10 picks were pitchers, 2 high ceiling HS picks and 4 college juniors. HS picks were 1-4 and 4-4 so I think that's pretty much both ends of the spectrum covered.
3. You must have got your question in early. I asked largely the same thing and the next thing he says is that he has 192 questions pending...
4. @InfraRen (Minny): What are your thoughts on the Twins draft as a whole? Obviously the Kohl Stewart pick is promising, but a couple other pitchers (Eades and Gonsalves) were tied to the 1st round at some point this year - what do you think of them? Jim Callis: I thought the Twins did a really nice job addressing their need for pitching. One scouting director told me Stewart's stuff is just as good as Appel's and Gray's, plus he's more athletic. Eades and Gonsalves went about where they should have, also like the additions of Aaron Slegers, C.K. Irby and Brandon Peterson in later rounds ... I have too many signings blowing up my cell phone, so I'm going to call this a wrap. See you next Wednesday.
5. Minnesota, we have a problem.
6. Agreed. One problem with Clete Thomas in CF is that apparently that means he has to bat too. May he go 4-4 tonight.
7. I think it was hyperbole to make the point that Parmelee hasn't got the range to play CF which you have to agree with. Your ranking on Parmelee vs. the other three is right on with respect to the corners. I would say that Parmelee plays a "smart" corner. Arcia might be faster but Parmelee will get to more balls. Can you imagine Arcia in center? It would be like watching Willingham "chase" after balls.
8. Good catch. I had spaced him out. I've only seen him the one time in LF and he seemed to know where the walls were. I could see Gardy giving him a whirl in CF if he has any range at all.
9. Since they DL'ed Hicks so quickly I'm assuming that Hicks has a grade 2 injury. Have they announced this? Means he'll be out 2-3 weeks and, my personal opinion, subject to re-injury all season. I just can't believe they'll put up with Thomas K'ing for that long. Any word on Ramirez? I assume his brains are still scrambled since he hasn't started a rehab stint and so he's probably not an option for months. mastroianni? no rehab assignment yet. Months. Parmelee? The guy that said he was a 20 range is exactly right. Arcia? Adventure in center field. Escobar? Gardy would love that. This Antoan Richardson (a Ben Revere clone physically) from AAA? A free agent (retread) signing? We should have a poll, who is in CF July 1st.
10. Or, is this going to be available to view somewhere after the broadcast completes??? Thanks.
11. Is this streamable somewhere for those without FSN?
12. Yeah, I wonder about that two. Did they release two kids to free up roster spots?
13. Stuart Turner's Ole Miss numbers:

Player avg gp-gs ab r h 2b 3b hr rbi tb slg% bb hbp so gdp ob% sf sh sb-att po a e fld%

Stuart Turner .374 62-62 222 44 83 15 1 5 51 115 .518 28 7 37 8 .444 9 0 2-6 362 61 5 .988

I think the comment about him hitting for a low average in the majors is BS. He's on the college leader BA board and lead his SEC team (it's a .500 team) in batting so he's not a dead man at the plate. Haven't viewed his video so comment on his swing. Coaches voted him best catcher in the SEC which is a top conference. I like this pick as a 3rd rounder. Speaks to the catching depth in this draft.
14. I think it's just that one guy over and over. Appel has 130K's/110ip as a reference. He's not going to strike out 3000 in the majors but he's not a soft throwing groundball pitcher. The scouting video I've seen is crap but from what I can tell he has a sinking fastball and a 12-6 curve that's quite decent. If he can get his circle change working he'll have a lot of the same look across three pitches. It works. Supposedly his fastball has little lateral movement but I can't tell from the tape I've seen. I think Law's critique of his motion is suspect. I think it's pretty decent on the available tape - seen worse in the majors that's for sure. No one else echos Law's complaints. I'm not all that thrilled with the pick but it's probably just the strength of draft issue coming into play.

I have to think the reason they picked this guy is that they think he'll move through the system and reach the majors quickly as a middle of the rotation guy. I imagine that's what we'll see in the paper soon. Not saying I agree with the pick, I'm not that impressed, but Correia he is not.
16. I don't know this guy but the pitch to contact comment is BS. The guy apparently has control issues but I see he is averaging a K per inning.
17. Reportedly he is being advised by Boras. And, he's a junior. The idea makes me queasy.
18. I don't necessarily disagree with that. The reason HS pitchers have historically been bad picks (relative to other options) is that (historically) scouts fall in love with the velocity and that's all the kids ever have. That is NOT the case with Stewart. If one watches the tape it's clear he is not just a thrower. My freak-out with him is I know what he's doing with his delivery and what it takes to fix.
19. The scouts ALL see the control problems and have graded him as such. They aren't the ones that have to fix it however and that's crux of the player development/scout conflict. I agree, if his control problems can be fixed he's probably a can't miss prospect but I'm guessing he's been throwing this way since little league. He's not alone.
20. Not a fan of a Kohl Stewart pick. All scouting reports uniformly give him a very low grade for command and if you look at the scouting tape on the net he very deliberately looks at his feet mid-motion on every single pitch. As a consequence he picks up the target late and his pitches, while having a very nice trajectory, wander around the plate area. I've never seen a coach successfully correct this except through "muscle memory" (which is a BS approach to something like this) and I think Stewart winds up as a middle reliever or back-end rotation guy at best. There are better options.
21. Totally agree. Gardy has lost several games this year by WISHING his starters could go longer. I don't think he notices Corriea, or whoever, are mentally fried iin the 7th even though they have only throw 85 pitches. Or 107. Pick your favorite game that he has booted. Now, they are carrying 13 pitchers and have every monday in June off. July isn't a lot different. USE THE BULLPEN!.
22. I thought he was a smart pick. He had a muscle tear and that was going to heal. Really no reason he should have dropped if you ask me. I believe "shoulder impingement" can have a couple of negative outcomes but let's hope it's just spring soreness.
23. Well that could be grim. Did he have arthroscopic surgery (yet)?
24. Do you know any more? There is nothing on the net about it.
25. He apparently hasn't pitched in 2013. Is he still with the Twins? Injured? I know he was injured last year coming into the draft but pitched in the minors after signing. The Twins were going to try and stretch him out into a starter.
