  1. The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported that Twins Farm Director, Brad Steil, was at the game last night. He certainly got an eye full. They said the HR was out of the park onto the street and bounced onto the roof of a house across the street. Oh, maybe a little power.
  2. Crazy! Now hitting .419. Some race horses are "mudders", maybe Buxton is a "cold mudder". Can hardly wait until it warms uo in Iowa!
  3. Buxton 2 for 4, HR & Dbl, 4 RBI's. hitting a lousy .410. Sano 1 for 4, HR, 1 RBI. hitting .377.
  4. Remember as you think of Sano that Buxton is only a few months younger. Sano spent the last 18 months in the instructional league and Beloit being introduced to a new culture a new language and a new position. At the same tine, Buxton was in an exceptional high school environment and great amateur programs. I won't be surprised if Buxton moves even more quickly than Sano, at least to the point that they end up together by the end of this year.
  5. They have been for 19 games and 80 plate appearances. If they stay like this for 25 games and 100 to 110 plate appearances, they will have to move him! IMHO, of course. This would be very quick for the Twins, but if he does this, how can any one deny that he has made a quantum leap in his control and maturity?
  6. I hope they kep him in Fla until it gets above 50 F north of the Mason-Dixon Line. Should be around the first of August. 2-5 2 RBI's. now hiting .384.
  7. Lined out to short 1st AB. Then hit one out. 7th rounder of the year.
  8. Great! They threw at him and he blew it outa the park! Gotta love it and don't mind for an instant that he thumbed his nose at 'em as he went by the dug out. I like him even more now.
  9. Pioneer, v g point about the team. I (maybe most of us) tend to think of the prospect moving to the majors and forget that there are minor league teams that warrant at least some consideration. Thanks for the reminder.
  10. If Buxton stays at .400 for another week, assuming the weather allows them to play more than 2 or 3 games, they need to move him up. He was a raw talent out of high school and this initially is a process to see just what level he is at, not unlike a college player. Clearly after 12 games a 476 average we'll know that he is misplaced where he is. If, after 60 or 75 AB's he is near this level, it's time to move him. He is currently at a similar pace to Joe Mauer, but Mauer was learning to control the game behind the plate as a catcher. There is no such learning requirement for Buxton.
  11. With regard to our Mr. Buxton. I understand the normalcy and reasons behind not overreacting to a small sample of good hitting. I, too, do not favor moving him up before his time. My question to the group is how do the Twins react not to a small sample of good hitting, but to a sample of truly extraordinary hitting? It's one thing to have a minor leager hit .350 for 10 or so games, but what if Byron is at .450 for 15 or 20 games? Particularly if that hitting takes place under truly miserable conditions, like the weather they have been facing this spring? Don't the Twins then want to make a move more quickly?
  12. The press in Mpls is reporting that Arcia is being called up prior to Monday's game. He'll replace Ramirez who is out for 3 games on paternity leave.
  13. You're right, that's what the twins typically do. If, however, Buxton stays hat for 3 or 4 weeks more, they need to scrap what they "normally" do and recognize that with Buxton they have an extraordinary prospect. in fact, I feel the same way about Sano. I think it would be ideal to get the two of them paired ASAP, since the are about the same age and let them fly through the minors at their own justifiable speed. We're one week into the season and it's way too early to make pronouncements, but this is the first time I can remember looking up minor league box scores and now I'm doing it for Sano, Buxton, Arcia & Rosario. Last night I felt cheated when I saw that Ft. Myers was off for the night, how crazy is that? Potential is only potential, but can you imagine the twins with a 1-4 line up all hitting for really high average with power and all stealing bases?
  14. Sano, Arcia, Rosario & Buxton are on FIRE. I know it's only 4 games into the season, but Rosario s the slacker in the group and he's hitting .389. Wow! Buxton is over .500, way over at .583. If they continue just doing terrific it Will be interesting to see how quickly the twins move them up and how they go about clearing space in AA & AAA for them.
