  1. I would like to see the Twins go after Gio Gonzalez -- Gio usually gives his team a chance to win the game.
  2. Agreed -- there is also too much looking ahead and wishing for big hits by these guys during the game. It really bugs me. Let the game play out. I don't want to mute them, and am watching on MLB.TV out of town, but I will have to turn down the sound this weekend.
  3. Great game -- Molitor pushed all the right buttons with Santana and pinch running for Plouffe. Outstanding relief pitching by May, Perk, and Jespen. I thought the Indians were playing hard to be spoliers, although it came apart in the end for them, they were not lying down. That made it really entertaining.
  4. I can remember a time not so long ago that Twins castoffs didn't ever play for another major league team, so the fact that guys like Valencia, Parmalee, Colabello, end up on other MLB rosters says something. I'll the take the current roster -- with some better starting pitching.
  5. Since the free agent era started, the Twins really have not been that active -- either signing their own free agent stars or letting them go, have they? They traded or traded for some other guys that got a paid like Viola, Brunansky, Shane Mack, Shannon Stewart. This is what I remember off the top of my head. Guys they've let walk -- who signed for big money (or big money at the time) elsewhere Larry Hisle Rod Carew Lyman Bostock Dave Goltz -----Pohlad family Gary Gaetti Greg Gagne Torii Hunter Jaque Jones Johan Santana Michael Cuddyer Jason Kubel (Cuddyer and Kubel are making some pretty good money over the next three years) Guys they re-signed for big money -- Puckett Nathan Mauer Free agents they signed from elsewhere for decent money Chili Davis Jack Morris Dave Winfield Paul Molitor Willingham?
  6. I have spent a lot of time in both parks and am a Nats season ticket holder. Oriole Park at Camden Yards is the nicest park of the two, although I will say I like Target Field better than either one (Target Field is A+ in my book). Camden Yards has an old time feel and the warehouse is great. The downtown area of Baltimore is humming with bars and restaurants. The outfield concourse between the seats and the warehouse is fun and they've marked where long home runs and who hit them out there in the plaza. The club level is OK, but a bit cramped compared to Target Field or Nats Park. I give Camden Yards an "A." Nats Park is in an underdeveloped section of the District on the Potomac -- so it has potential, but the area is a long way away from reaching it. There are really no bars or decent restaurants nearby yet -- there are couple of beer tents set up outside the park. The park itself has good sightlines and you can buy a cheap ticket and set up shop right behind the lower level $45 dollar seats if you want to stand and watch the game. Some of the nicest features of the park are reserved for higher dollar club level and the two premium levels behind home plate. The bar areas in the club level are really nice. If you are only going to a game or two and want to see the "best" of Nats park, check out Stubhub or Craigslist and buy a premium seat cheap from a seaon ticket holder or somebody who is dumping their corporate seats. Unfortuately, I have to give Nats Park a "B."
