The picture is sideways on purpose. Let's hope the team can straighten the 2nd half. I left halfway through the first game in disgust and watched the Vikings game on my phone in a nearby bar. Detroit won and it is now ZEBBY time. All hands need to be on deck. Crunch time has arrived.

I am waiting to learn the new game time or if a cancellation takes place before I depart for Fenway. The fans sitting in the outfield bleacher section are next to the bullpens. They are the "Bleacher Creatures" and the bullpen pitchers are hit with insults constantly. It is really sad that you have to hear cursing. They card everybody at Fenway. Regardless, the alcohol flowing is beyond belief which include minors getting from adults. Most of the ushers are elderly (like me) and do little to even monitor the challenges. As a visitor, I still find this park and the ambience so unique. I met some really nice people and many Twins fans. Only Wriggley Field can match it. Someone mentioned Miranda. Trust me, he was swinging at air yesterday. Lewis is scheduled to be at 3rd base today. He almost fell down on one of his swings. Regarding Margot, I cannot figure out Rocco's continued placing him in the lineup at times. Is Margot of Italian heritage?

I forgot to mention one thing. There is rain in the forecast for Boston on Saturday. It is possible that the game will be cancelled and perhaps there will be a doubleheader on Sunday. If so, the Twins would have days off on Saturday and Monday.

I was biting my nails the entire game! As you can see by the picture from my seat, the Red Sox fans were out in full force in historic Fenway Park. Although, it was great to see several people wearing Twins caps and shirts. The one thing that I want to point out is what a thrill it was to watch Buxton. He keenly watched the pitcher prior to stealing a base and then scored the first run a short time later by being aware of the location of the hit that brought him home. After he took off from second, I did not see him even look at Watkins when he rounded third. It was very noticeable that he was putting forth a good effort. I also want to give credit to young Festa and Jax. There were missed opportunities and players left on base, but they pulled it out in the end. WHEW!!

Hey now......you obviously are unaware that he has set a Twins record. Nobody has been hit by a pitch more than Castro this year!!!! Think of all the bruising that has taken place. Will get in the Twins Hall of Fame? Seriously, he has been moved around to so many positions without complaining (unlike Superstar Lewis). He is also close to setting a record as a position player doing the pitching chores in lopsided games.

I strongly believe that some of this "young talent" should be traded for pitchers. The team has Mirandi, Lee, Lewis, Julian, Larnach, Martin, Wallner and a few others (possibly Kiriloff) that could produce assistance. Although, stay away from these pitchers that need rehabs upon entrance. It's a rainy morning in Boston, but I will be at the game tonight with my Twins' cap and shirt on to cheer on the team.

Yesterday, a person scolded individual negative postings on the Twins. It ticked me off a bit. The team is a product that people support through buying tickets, TV subscriptions, merchandise, etc. They put themselves out there as being part of the community and use the state of Minnesota and the TC logo as part of their name. As such, the community certainly has a right to post positive and negative comments via remarks on this format. A big frustration for me at the moment is tied to them having three rookie starting pictures who rarely make it past the 4th or 5th innings. Jax has been a stud and there are others such as Sands who have pitched decent. It takes the team 4-5 relief pitchers to finish the game when one of them pitches. Once again, the owners and management CHOOSE not to build up the relief pitching when they had a chance to do so last month. Regarding the hitting, Santana leads the team in RBI's and home runs in addition to being a favorite for a golden glove. Odds are that he will be gone after this year, I see a new person (probably Miranda or Julian learning that role with on-the-job training) in that spot. There will be a learning curve. It's similar to them not having a true back-up plan for Buxton this year due to them thinking he will not go on the IL. The twins are at the point of needing defibrillation. Please, somebody get out the paddles. In the immortal words of Yogi Berri, "It ain't over till it's over." Trivia note: I still recall the Hamms beer commercials with the bear....(land of sky-blue waters) playing with the Twins games. Did you know that Hamms was instrumental in bringing the Twins from Washington to Minnesota?

I'm in Boston on vacation and will see the games on Friday and Saturday. I just hope that I will see an uptick in hitting and pitching. Fenway has a certain ambient that will hopefully bring them luck. Nobody has commented on this topic. KC seems to be faltering this month also (lost last 4 games). They are in the 2nd wild card spot and only 1 1/2 games ahead of the Twins (3rd playoff spot) and 2 ahead of Detroit. Seattle is 2 1/2 behind the Twins and Boston is 4 games back after Wednesday's results.

So, let's look at the owners. The Pohlads have money. They are #75 on the Forbes list with a worth of 3.8 billion dollars. Forbes lists the Twins team value as 895 million dollars. Old Man Pohlad bought the Twins from Calvin in 1984 for 44 million. Jim Pohlad (named owner) is tied for 8th on the chart link below. MLB richest team owners in the U.S. 2024 | Statista Not willing to spend money last month to improve pitching, announcing earlier this year that you (the owner) needed to save money by not willing to better the team, and not attempting to find out a solution to the broadcast issue earlier this summer which decreased you fan base....well it equals a non-caring owner. Dear. Mr. Pohlad, Either step up to the plate and put together a decent team via spending money or SELL THE TEAM, PLEASE>>>PRETTY PLEASE. When you invest in the team, you fill the seats, and build/maintain a caring fan base, and make money. THANK YOU, A Twins fan since 1965

After Detroit's victory over KC this evening, I believe that they are sitting 1 1/2 back of the Twins. The Twins also would have the position of breaking a tiebreaker. They need to boost their hitting and pitching. Corey stated this evening that the relief pitching ERA is next to last in the majors. Zebby is on the mount with his 7.11 ERA on Tuesday. My fingers and toes are crossed that something happens to boost the adrenaline.

It is scary to think that the Twins could go from AL Central 1st place in 2023 to 4th in 2024. UGH.. -
Realistically, the team has three rookie starting pitchers who struggle at times and cannot be counted on to complete many innings which is then followed by a questionable relief group. The hitting and the increase in the strikeout percentages has also made it nerve-wracking to watch. I am a senior citizen who has been an avid Twins fan all my life. Some of the managing decisions this year, the third base coaching mistakes, and the Pohlads' refusal to address any hope of potential additions last month are all mindboggling. There is much more including the young second baseman consistently boggling the ball. It is my hope that they will be able to sneak into the playoffs, but the entire infrastructure is so very frayed to think that they can do much in the end. One has to have hope, but it is important to be realistic.

In the immortal words of Mr. Monty Python...and now for something completely different. Try Duran and Jax out as starting pitchers...use the rookies as relief pitchers. Do you realize that Matthews is being used as a starter on Tuesday, and he has a 7.11 ERA? One cannot beat him up as he is a young rookie brought up quickly who is putting forth an effort. However, when was the last time the Twins used a starter with that high of an ERA?

The podiatrist gave me a cortisone shot that was injected directly into my heel to treat my planter faciitis. It was VERY painful due to location of the injection but helped with the healing process. As of this moment, the Twins cling to the last wild card spot in the playoffs. In the rearview mirror... Detroit 2 1/2 games back Seattle 3 1/2 games back Boston 4 1/2 games back Fingers crossed..
