Do the Twins know free agency started? They are allowed to get better but it will cost money.

I hope this isn't Terry Ryan's quote of we're going to Chase a pretty darn good pitcher cause if it is we are in trouble
  3. chagen
Nope! with a team rebuilding he's old and a soft tosser don't want or need him
  4. chagen
Say no to Pavano for a team rebuilding let's not waste a spot on him!

Tampa Bay is probably the best spot for Denard Span to land now if only we could get a couple pitchers for him

If this is the case Bill and Seth will get there way and we can watch another year of Minor League Starting Pitching and watch more season ticket holders leave and wonder why.

Really, you want to spend Yankees money? I'm not sure you could do that in one year and field a playoff team (Matt Kory tried on Baseball Prospectus a week or two ago and it was so-so), but I was trying to retain some semblance of realism here. And even the Yankees, most years (not so much in 2012), have some pre-free-agency homegrown talent that helps out, more of it than the Twins currently have. I was just making the point that payroll matters i didn't say i wanted to spend yankees money i'll try and dumb it down for you next time Bill!

If you want quality starting pitching via free agency you have to overspend or you sit back do nothing and lose 90 plus games you decide

No, they couldn't. That kind of thinking is how decent teams become the late-1990s Orioles and Dodgers. There's a time when opening up the checkbook makes good sense (the Tigers now, the Twins three years ago), and a time when it doesn't (the Twins now, the Tigers a decade ago). There's no amount of money they could throw at this to help things in 2013. Bill last time i checked the Yankees are in the playoffs every year. Now they don't win the world series every year but there in the hunt Money Matters!

What amazes me is when you bring this topic up than you have apologists like Phil Mackey write a column saying why the Twins are limited in what they can spend. Seth Stohs is kinda like this. The truth is if they really wanted to win they could open up there checkbooks just like the Tigers and we could at least be a playoff team.

Absolutely not he's got nothing left in the tank also the team doesn't plan to contend next year so he's just filling a spot get somebody with some upside they will have a chance to get better.

Can anybody fill a spot on the Starting staff of the Twins? If not don't care!

The blow it up talk isn't total crap if the twins aren't willing to go out and get 3 quality starting pitchers which i will be shocked if they do. I'm not talking Joe Blanton i'm talking quality pitchers

Mr. Ed Your right on either spend some money and get some pitching or commit to a youth movement your wasting time just having a few good players that are in there prime Willingham, Morneau etc.

A world series team that just got better! Reminder to Twins fans we have the ability to sign anybody we want there is no salary cap in baseball there is just the Pohlad cap. If were not going to go out and get some quality starting pitching than why keep willingham? Why not trade him for some decent prospects? Same with Morneau see if we can get some decent prospects? I'd be interested to hear what people think.

Must be nice to have a owner that is willing to spend money to win. While the Twins wait it out and hope to find bargains in the pitching department.
