  1. Cut Blackburn, Pelfrey, and Correaia right now and seriously begin the process of rebuilding the team for 2016. We should adopt the Astro's model.
  2. Moving one of the game's best catchers to third base is idiotic.
  3. Trade him and continue to lay the foundation for a competitive team in 2014. I'd try to find a taker for Willingham as well.
  4. Time to double down on the future and move both Morneau and Willingham. The team can't compete in 2013 and shouldn't cling to any such illusions.
  5. Exactly. By the end of this year, his complete dearth of offensive skills will be glaringly apparent: no power and an on-base percentage below 300. Trade him for a warm arm or two.
  6. No. He has shown no ability to get on base at anything approaching an acceptable clip.
  7. Let's hope that Morneau and Willingham are moved next. The team, which shouldn't pretend that it can compete in 2013, must turn its attention to 2014 and beyond.
  8. Character and lockerroom issues are overrated. If he can hit, then he should be pursued.
  9. I agree. Morneau, Span, and Willingham should've been moved last trading deadline. I worry that Ryan will move Parmalee instead of Morneau or Willingham. Intercourse the money left of the former's contract. And Willingham is due to regree and/or get injured.
  10. What would you have to give up? Hicks? Gibson? Parmalee? I actually like the Marlins move. Doesn't it resemble what Oakland did last year or Boston did this year?
  11. But Ryan was still involved with the team during Smith's reign. He wasn't drinking pina coladas with Ginger and Mary Ann in some lagoon in the Pacific.
  12. Why would you want Hamilton?
  13. This makes the Orioles the best bet for the cellar in the east.
  14. What do you think they'll have to give up to get Shields? I can't imagine they'll be satisfied with Span without a prospect.
  15. There is an easy fix to this. Due to Revere's extreme contact proficiency,it is more beneficial for him to simply stop swinging when he gets ahead in the count, and avoid terminating his at-bat prematurely by putting a ball in play. Specifically if he avoided swinging on all 2-0, 3-0, and 3-1 counts, I believe he could raise his OBP .040 or .050 points or more overnight. I made some rough calculations to arrive at that conclusion here: How many such counts did he have? Since he has no power, I can't believe he was able to build too many such hitter-friendly counts.
  16. The Rays are too smart to trade Shields for Span. I'm afraid that they will fleece the team out of a top prospect.
  17. The Twins waited about five years too long. He has no appreciable skills.
  18. "There's no feeling sorry for a guy in baseball!" Tom Hanks
  19. It's less a question of Youk's positives as basic roster construction. We don't need another slow, aging bat that is basically reduced to a d.h. role, especially since the team has almost no legitimate shot contending next year.
  20. The Twins glass is less than half empty, the bottom is cracked, and the water is staining Ryan's desk. Not a pretty sight.
