  1. Dude's soul patch has to be worth 10 mil at least. If he's willing to pay for all repair costs associated with bashing in Gardy's door I'm all for it. He'd be by far the closest thing to a number one this rotation currently has and if his numbers are anywhere near what they have been in St. Louis you move him for some pieces in July, or another draft pick next offseason.
  2. Liriano pitched a little better than I had predicted.
  3. Now it's getting REALLY, REALLY, REALLY strange.
  4. Instead of throwing away the phrase, "pitching to contact" why not reuse it in other ways. For example, no longer will someone be "cruisin' for a bruisin'," instead they'll be "pitching to contact."
  5. Liriano will have an okay 6 innings. Per usual he'll be reaching 100 pitches before the end of the 6th.
  6. Valencia is about to do something big in the 9th.
  7. I seem to recall both Liriano and Garza being fairly young when they made their debuts. In fact Garza made his debut about a year after being drafted. Sale and Quintana are really the only two "fast tracked" arms the White Sox are getting good production from. It just so happens Sales' production has been really good thus far.
  8. There appears to be a bevy of mediocre to slightly above average pitchers about to hit FA at season's end and there's also a strong belief/desire among Twins fans that the team is going to attempt to fill out their rotation by signing at least one, if not more of them. But, and this may just be the pessimism in me, the Twins don't strike me as the kind of team that will make a run at say a James Shields. If I had to guess I'd say we're more likely to see them re-uping with Pavano, or perhaps gasp Scott Baker. If I had guess with slightly more optimism I'd say they invest in reinforcing Gardy's door and make a run at Kyle Lohse. But that's just me. What does everyone else think?
  9. Could be 5 D's if we start referring to him as Nick should be DFA'd Blackburn.
  10. Let's be honest. This trade will likely end up having no effect on either team. The two "prospects" the Twins received will likely never contribute to the Major League club in any meaningful way. On the other hand Liriano will likely continue to be Liriano for the 2+ months the White Sox have him. He'll be just as likely to knock them out of the playoff race as he will be to propel them into October. The only winner will likely be Wrigley gum and their potential advertising campaign on account of Liriano's new habit.
  11. Well it's not every day, but it is every day game after a night game.
  12. Where's the next Henry Rowengartner when you need him?
  13. You would think that if a team were truly rebuilding this number should be higher. Why not see what you have in house before signing or trading for a veteran (looking at your Jim Hoey, Jeff Gray, Jamey Carrol, etc.)?
  14. On the bright side, this trade is going to save me the money I would have had to spend on cotton candy for the nephew, when I'm able to leave early after Duensing gives up 8 runs in 5 innings.
  15. Come on guys! Liriano is not good enough to warrant 4+ pages worth of discussions of his trade.
  16. This argument on the surface seems logical. But, is there really a better chance the draft pick made by a Terry Ryan led front office is better than two prospects traded for by same said front office? ;-)
  17. Those guys are going to need longer contracts if you want to hold onto them until that happens.
  18. Great to be here! Thanks for having me.
  19. Has anyone considered the possibility that the market for Liriano was not what we had hoped for? I'm all for criticizing the moves of the front office, but not even the most inept of general managers would trade a Major League starter within the division, for mediocre prospects, if something better were available.
