  1. All this and more. Stay in the International league, so fans aren't deluded with gaudy stats accumulated in the bandboxes of the PCL.
  2. Given how they constantly complain, I would say no. Everything was ok with them when the teams won(see long time affiliation w/BALT) but once the talent pool dries up, Complain Complain Complain. They complain when guys on rehab don't play 1 or 2 games at AAA.
  3. Who else was going to pay Capps, coming off a horrid season, 4 million?
  4. Parmelee didn't have trouble hitting 2 of his 4 dingers at TField. The Metrodome fed boys have to change the mindset.
  5. Should have left the trees in. Or get better pitchers.
  6. Florimon has a real chance to make an impression. If for some reason Yoshi would decide to head home, or the Twins give up on him, and Dozier isn't ready(tho I'd pick him first), Florimon could step in and contribute.
  7. All I'm saying is that several youngsters got singled out late in the season for 'their attitude' after a bunch of losses in the media.
  8. Pitchers like to throw to Dru. Allegedly. Pavano's blankie etc. And then there was Drew being mentioned along w/Valencia as guys not taking the L's more seriously. And then you have the lack of offense. Have a real competition and take the winner. So few jobs are truly open for competition on this team, which is funny, given how terrible they were last year. I just don't understand the fascination with Drew as the backup backup, which makes him the #2 catcher in my perception, given how he got into games so much last year. The guy can't hit. If so, then he'd better block low pitches better and throw more runners out. In other words, better than last year.
  9. So many opps for lefties. Stay healthy and have a great year Tomy Dabie
  10. I can't even imagine who will be picked up, and scraped up out of the discount bin. But I would anticipate Hendriks to have full shot at the rotation next year. Duensing/Diamond. Will need a horse, but stars are hard to come by. IF/when Morneau retires, that and some of this other $$ could be thrown at someone like Greinke?
  11. Is Zumaya on the 40 man roster? If he is, that impacts a roster spot quickly, whether he retires, or goes on the 60 day DL.
  12. What a slippery slope he's on. How hard should he go after that ground ball? Should he dive? Should he let it go, allowing a run to score? Or try taking that extra base? Very difficult situation he's in. I wish him the best. Hopefully the Twins take it easier on him than he will on himself. Take it slow!
  13. Rosario's GCL year was better than decent. It's a pitcher's league, big offensive numbers are hard to come by.
  14. I thought the Twins were considering moving D-Rod to pitcher after a rough GCL year. I hope some of the gaudy numbers in Rook Ball aren't just a product of the Eliz bandbox. Reminds me of the Edmonton days when Resto and others were cranking the ball, and like when Laudner lit up Orlando. False hopes.
  15. I wonder if Gardy was unhappy trading Garza in that deal. It seemed to me he was never satisfied with Bartlett's play either, even after he took over following the demotion to AAA for Juanie Castro.
  16. Here is what LaVelle blogged this morning http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/blogs/139829093.html
  17. JJ Hardy would have been a good keeper if they'd just left him alone. Also helps his stats for the #s he puts up in Baltimore's hitter-friendly park, but still the offense would be there. Somehow, his footspeed didn't impress some people. Now they get Carroll, who is probably about Hardy's speed or slightly faster. Yay. De Los Santos seems to be a lost cause. Beresford is miles away. Levi M needs to have a big year and move up quickly.
  18. Straight up trade for Punto
  19. I still don't realistically see a need for Matroianni, unless Span is out for concussions. Another C is also a complete waste of roster space. Doumit cannot be THAT bad. Unless Morneau starts on the DL Mauer has to play first more because of name-your weakness.
  20. I'm on board for Lance Ray. Overcame a terrible start in 2011,and an August slump to put up some decent numbers.
  21. Bah to the 'budget'. If the Twins are going to cut back on the spending, then they have to make better decisions than 4 mill on Capps, and 3 mill on Yoshi.
  22. This is why I wonder what the heck the Twins saw in Yoshi when they scouted him in the first place. Did they only watch him on good days batting RH?
  23. The Twins seem to struggle just to draft big power guys, let alone develop any. The first step is cutting down on strike outs. Make more contact. Go with the pitch. Good thing this whole approach wasn't around in the 60s when they consistently had sluggers. Or the 87 champs. The whole HR thing seems to be overrated by the Twins. They needed to let Kubel/Cuddyer go, both were among those intimidated by TField, spoiled by the Metrodome. Especially Kubel. Funny that it didn't seem to bother someone like Parmelee during his cup of coffee.
  24. Some tweaks: Hit the other way. Cut down on the Swing. Hit singles. That's the Twins way.
  25. Twins infatuation with Capps is IMO a result of the trade. They're still trying to justify throwing Ramos away for this guy.
