  1. Achter goes full count and gets the K.
  2. Bases loaded-2 out. Shibuya is coming out and in comes AJ Achter.
  3. Shibuya is battling his "heart out". In other words he is walking a thin line.
  4. White caps announcers call the Snappers not a good defensive club after a Rhodes error puts a one out runner on 1st.
  5. Snappers 3-0 in the 5th
  6. Koch walks-takes 3rd on a two base error during a pick off-AJ singles on a 95+ fastball driving in Koch and then steals second-Lin walks- Grimes flys out and AJ moves to 3rd-Sano up 2 out-Lin takes 2nd uncontested- and Sano strikes out looking at a fastball
  7. Rhodes K's on fastball from Tigers 11th rated prospect who is in to pitch.
  8. Lin doubles to start the 3rd, Grimes flys out and Sano strikes out on a change. Then Rosario singles driving in Lin, taking second. On the next pitch Ortiz singles bringing in Rosario and taking second on the throw home. Pitching change and Snappers have a 2-0 lead.
  9. Al Kaline's grand kid is playing 3rd for the White Caps.
  10. Snappers hitless going to the 3rd. Shibuya on the mound. Has had some runners on and a hard hit out into right. Got a strike out throw out DP in the first too.

  13. Great update. Thank you for the info. I didn't get to see Arcia in the field last year in Beloit as he had throwing issues and could only DH. I had heard he was a good outfielder, his bat was impressive however.
  14. Draft Buxton-hope that Arcia, Benson, Hicks, Morales get or stay hot. Trade one of them and another player or two for a high level arm and middle infielder. I know Buxton might be gone by number 2. But you can never have too much pitching and looking at the Twins prospects on the mound that is the most glaring upgrade needed. At least healthy ones.
  15. When the idea of adopt a Prospect came up my first choice was Jason Wheeler for several reasons. First he is a impressive young man to talk to, second my wife thought he was a nice boy, third he met Harmon Killebrew and my son is named for Harmon, and fourth he is a member of the Snappers. So a bit about the 6 foot 8 inch, 265 pound left handed throwing young man from Torrance, California. Jason comes from a family of athletes, mom and dad both played college basketball and his older brother Ryan plays in the Diamondbacks organization and is currently in AAA with the Reno Aces. So Jason has the pedigree. Jason played college ball at Loyola Marymount University, as did his Snapper team mate Matt Koch, and some Twins fans may have seen him play for the St. Cloud River Bats of the Northwoods League where he was named 2010 Pitcher of the Year with a 8 and 1 record, 1.35 ERA and 74 strike outs. He was 6-4 with a 3.84 ERA his last year with the Lions before the Twins drafted him in the 8th round in 2011. (That may make him a qualify him as one of us. I have to check the rules.) Jason was a Junior at LMU when he left for the Twins but will graduate this fall with a degree in business law. If the whole pitching in the Majors and making a lot of cash thing doesn't work out he might end up a sports agent, we will try not to hold that against him on this blog. With three games started under his belt at Beloit this year Jason is 1-0 with a 2.40 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 10 K's and 5 walks in 15 innings. The nom de plume I threw out has nothing to do with his velocity or style of pitching, I just have a soft spot in my heart for baseball of the 1920's-1930's when such names where common place. Depending on the wacky southern Wisconsin weather Jason should take the mound in the next couple of days against Bowling Green. I have yet to see him pitch but it looks like he charts a good game, once he has some gloves to keep those California fingers warm. Good look Jason, we will be keeping a eye on you.

  17. Gotta to go Snapper here-how about Big Jason Wheeler, the Torrance Tornado.
  18. OH it's Yohan Pino on the mound! Saw him pitch for the Snappers before the trade for Pavano. Back AA. Is he on rehab or taking the elevator down?
  19. No Terry Felton is on the mound and Mike Hargrove is at the plate...1980's baseball reference for those lucky enough to see "Freeze" felton face off against the Human rain Delay.
  20. Andrew, Thanks for the thread didn't even know they had a pancake and eggs special today.
  21. My take is Cody was not advocating the draft for need philosophy, just stating that it is a option. Which it is. Is it the best, probably not. But I can see where having another high tools high school outfielder would not be something to make most Twins fans hearts stop from excitement. It would however make someone like Aaron Hicks or Joe Benson expendable to a trade however, if either hit enough this year to make themselves attractive to another team. Could that bring a arm the Twins could use at the top of the roatation at some point. Maybe. Stock piling assests is not a bad thing. Me I kind of like the Catcher, that it a position of need.
  22. Obie, "How is Rosario's defense at 2nd base? " I am sure Seth has some inside stuff on him, but I have seen him play about 4 times at 2nd. So take any type of info for what it is, a small sample size and from the eyes of a guy who played on the other side of the infield. He has the athletic ability to play second, he looks to me like a guy re-learning skills as he plays. It is not quite natural for him yet and as it looks like he is thinking not reacting. This can cause some errors as he maybe thinking about where to set his feet or should I try to two or throw to first to get the out and he isn't looking the ball into the glove all the time. But I would expect by the time I see him again in a couple of weeks it should be a bit more "normal" for him and the routine of second will be falling more into place. Beloit is a good place for him to start to work on this. Plenty of time for him adapt and refine those skills, no hurry. That being said it will be his bat that determines his long term playing level and that his the possibility of being very special at second. I am excited by the possiblity of him sticking at second with Sano at 3rd, throw in a Levi Micheal or Dozier for your SS and Parmalee at 1st. Could be a good hitting group.
  23. I was shocked that ESPN understands that the Yankees play regular season games against someone besides the Red Sox. I will say that the Yankees are kind of looking a bit old out there. Not as scary as they did a few years ago. As far the Jeter coverage, come on. Do you expect something different. If both the Yankees and the Red Sox should collapse things in Bristol might implode until Football season starts, imagine if they had to find Kansas City and send someone to cover a KC-Blue Jays game sometime. The horror. But it is the price we pay for having a entity like ESPN with it's coverage, production values and in many cases strong programming. They need to feed the monster and the storyline the know that sells to the masses is Red Sox and Yankees. But it does give us something in return, a deeply held belief that the world is against our plucky little team from the northern plains.
  24. Damn you Sinker. Once again attempting to bring reason and well thought out points to the Internet. You disappoint me sir. Next thing you know you will try to convince us all that the Matt Capps-Wilson Ramos trade was not first harbinger of the coming 2012 apocaplyse we on the Twins Boards all know it to be. I recoil at the thought of being fair and balanced with the local media types, don't you know they get paid to watch baseball games, sleep in fancy hotels, brought to games by limos and helicopters, feast on crab and lobster while in the radio and TV booth, hang out with Bono and Chuck Norris and walk to their airconditioned private bath facilites on pedals of rose buds. (ok, to be honest I am not sure about how fancy the hotels are.) In return for this don't you understand all we want Bert and Richard to do is spend at least 2 hours of the broadcast discussing VORP of Nick Punto, the UZR of Willingham, once a week say pythagorean expectation (Gordo would have nailed that by the way), the fallacy of pitch to contact, the sad state of the Twins Minors Leagues, the terrible decisions of Gardy, Bill Smith, Terry Ryan, any Pohlad, why Vavra has his job, why Anderson has his job, why Wayne Hattaway is the Big Fella, in short to just be negative for us. Trust us it will work for ratings too...look at Bravo. My wife watches that all day sometimes and not one postive word is heard on it for the entire period. Twins ratings would soar if you would just bash Mauer more. More back biting and name calling would really enhance the viewing and listening experience. The days of Halsey Hall and Herb are done! The boards of sports fandom are a sacred space reserved for the reactionary, built for those who fly off the handle, developed for us who believe it is our god given right to spew forth ill timed words in the same manner we play angry birds, without a thought in our heads. That sir is what makes it fun. Why can't our sports broadcasters be more that way. Sinker I just thank god you don't write on the Vikings. At least there is a place where unfettered fandom will exist in it's pure form. Fire Childr...ah Frazier.
