  1. Sometimes it feels like Molitor and Falvine are on different pages. One is 'win now,' while the others are playing 'for the future.' I get why Molitor is doing this, but I also understand if they let him go because of it. He is not the right fit for where they are at present.
  2. They didn't protect him last winter. Not surprised, but I certainly think they should now. He has the 'stuff,' the question is does he have the capability to build on his command, control, and guile.
  3. Stewart's 79 mph curve for a strikeout was the type of pitch that he needs to have in his back pocket when he needs it (Berrios has an even better one). I don't agree that there is 'not much to like.' Being able to throw 95 with that much movement, as well as being able to drop in a nice 79 mph 'bottom out' curve is the difference between a move to the bullpen and a starter. Consistency will be his barometer. Berrios passed this test year 1-3
  4. Nice job working out of a jam. This is what we need the kids up to learn when it doesn't count. Several swinging strikes for Kohl this game, which was a knock on him in the minors.
  5. And high pitch counts. He appears to have about 4 pitches to consider. Command and control are difficult with the young pitchers with velocity AND movement. He didn't seem to have walk problems in the minors this year either. Gonsalves did, though he had more success by a wide margin in the minors. Clearly the 'stuff' is why one was a 1st rounder and the other a 4th (though could have been higher). Thank the Lord we are finally seeing the young guys vs. retreads - though it will take patience.
  6. Kohl has solid velocity and movement. He reminds me a bit of Berrios when he came up (e.g. wild, but stuff was apparent). The question will be how he adjusts, and if his desire and work ethic mirror Berrios. His starts have been similar - leaving balls up, lacking control of some serious movement on his pitches.
