With their second-round pick in the 2019 MLB draft in 2019, the Minnesota Twins selected right-handed pitcher Matt Canterino from Rice University.
After signing, he made a couple of tune-up appearances in the GCL before joining the Cedar Rapids Kernels. he went 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA in five starts. In 20 innings, he struck out 25 batters.
While the 2020 minor league season was cancelled, Canterino did spend the last couple of weeks at the Twins alternate site in St. Paul. From there, he went to Ft. Myers for Twins Instructional League.
