Twins Minor League Report (7/2): Miguel Sano Debuts

    Eric Pleiss

Miguel Sano made his MLB debut on Thursday evening and (of course) picked up his first career hit via an infield single in the top of the ninth inning at Kauffman stadium in Kansas City. He's a huge young man, just starting his (hopefully) huge MLB career. Oh, and the Twins won thanks to a spectacular eight-inning shutout from Kyle Gibson capped by a Glen Perkins save.

    RED WINGS REPORT

Red Wings vs. Lehigh Valley IronPigs

    Box Score

Rochester and Lehigh Valley were scoreless through four and a half innings before the IronPigs broke through and scored a pair of runs on the Red Wings starter, Greg Peavey. Peavey dropped to 0-2 and was charged with the loss. He pitched five innings, struck out five, walked two and gave up a pair of earned runs. He was replaced by Caleb Thielbar who couldn't hold things together and gave up four earned runs in the sixth on three hits and three walks. Cole Johnson pitched a pair of innings to finish the game, giving up an earned run, striking out one and walking one.

The Red Wings were down 6-0 before they scored a run of their own in the top of the seventh, and then gave that run right back in the bottom of the inning. Leading off for Rochester, Aaron Hicks was 3-4 with a walk and an RBI. He should be ready to be back in Minnesota at any time. Oswaldo Arcia was 2-5 with a double. and he's hitting .261, but he had three more strikeouts on Thursday. No other Red Wings hitter had more than one hit, and no one else had an extra base hit.
