Introducing the new Twins Daily!

Over the past few weeks, we've been working to improve the Twins Daily experience as the baseball season winds down and we all look forward to the offseason. We liked the original look of Twins Daily but the full width layout that resizes to each user's browser was something we wanted to change about the site. With a full-width layout, it's hard (or impossible) to present a polished experience for every user on every browser.

[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]Another thing we wanted to do is present the news as clearly and efficiently as possible. That mean the removal of some of the superfluous icons, avatars, and imagery that littered the old design. You'll notice this most on the left sidebar, which has been redesigned to only present the most relevant information to the user. We think it delivers a cleaner, easier to navigate site for all of you. Most of the information can be found in the same places and this redesign is more of a refinement than an all-new site.

A new feature is share buttons in each article. We've had a Facebook share button for quite awhile but now you'll see a Twitter and Google+ icon at the top of each article as well. If you like an article you read on TD, just click one of those buttons to share it with the world (or at least your world). We've also added a few small-ish things here and there, such as a Picture of the Week category on the main forum page. The category pages (and main page as well) have pagination links as well. Instead of articles dropping off the face of the earth after leaving the first page, you can now go back into the archives page-by-page. Don't ask me why that wasn't there in the first place, but it wasn't.

Twins Daily was started because Parker, Seth, John, and Nick felt there was a lack of quality Twins coverage. This redesign is merely a refinement of that idea and we welcome any further ideas that you, the community members, have on how to improve your time with us. If you see something you like, something you don't, or want to talk about things you'd like to see on the site, be sure to let us know.

Oh, and if you haven't noticed it already, Jeremy Nygaard has been working on a fantastic spreadsheet that tracks the rosters and transactions for the entire Twins organization (yes, the entire Twins organization). It's crazy-detailed and I suggest you take a look at it if you haven't already done so.
