Chance Provisional Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 This is a very exciting day! Can't wait to see Gibson pitch. I hope he can give us some hope that we have someone that can stick in the front half of the rotation for years.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 It's possible that the game thread today will be larger than normal with the anticipated Kyle Gibson taking the mound. Considering that possibility... I just want to say that everyone is encouraged and welcome to participate. Separate rules have not been established for the game thread yet so I will post some helpful guidelines. 1. Look at the game threads as a bunch of people sitting in the left field bleachers having a good time watching a game. You don't talk baseball throughout the game... All Topics are discussed... Talk Baseball... Talk Peanut Butter Sandwiches it's all good. We prefer meaningless topics to life and death ones. We don't want to discuss Republican/Democrat because that can lead to malignant feelings. We would rather discuss something more benign like... Peanut Butter. 2. Please keep content PG-13... We don't know who is reading these threads. PG-13 does allow a little latitude but we all know when the line is crossed. 3. No arguments... We simply don't do that here... We are too busy having a good time to put up with having a bad time. If someone pokes fun at you... Laugh with them... Poke fun back but know or at least assume that it is good natured and take all comments as such. 4. If you make a comment that is not intended as good natured. You missed the spirit of the game thread and you should probably walk away and let everybody else have fun if you are not capable of doing that. 5. Don't take anything seriously. We took a few shots at PJ Walters last night. Not the person but the performance and that's OK as long as it's perceived as good natured. 6. These are guidelines absent of officials rules... The Game Threads are typically heavily moderated and we haven't tossed anyone out yet and we don't want to. We hope everyone participates in the same spirit. It is not an exclusive club... Everyone is encouraged to participate... We just ask... that no matter what happens in the game or thread itself. Have Fun!!! and that's about it.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Best wishes kirk gibson! I would also like to add that I'm a big fan of: Gibson Guitars... Especially the Les Paul or if I want to let my freak flag fly The Flying V I'm pickling some onions so I can drink a Gibson during the game. For today... I will give Mel Gibson a pass for his transgressions and I'm listening to Debbie Gibson "Foolish Beat" in a continuous loop. Dharma and Greg episodes featuring Thomas Gibson are high priority morning pre-game TV and Bob Gibson is the greatest pitcher of all time for today only. I almost forgot... ABC News after the game in honor of Charlie Gibson.
Kwak Verified Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Seems unusual to replace Willingham with Carroll in the lineup with the concommitant movement of players in the field.

I thought you wanted to avoid controversial topics. You know the depth of feeling some people bring to the issue of chunky vs. creamy!
glunn Community Moderator Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Seems unusual to replace Willingham with Carroll in the lineup with the concommitant movement of players in the field. I think that the plan may be to provide Gibson with a very strong defense.

It looks like Gardy is putting his best defensive lineup on the field. Gardy may have a little Gibson fever as well.

You know the depth of feeling some people bring to the issue of chunky vs. creamy! C'mon Idaho... Creamy for sure... Nothing worse than spreading chunky and ripping up the bread in the process. OK... Maybe not "nothing worse"... Getting stabbed by an ice pick in the eyeball might be worse!
buckninetyone Provisional Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 concommitant that's an extraneously bolstoriously cromulent word
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 We just had the same thought at the same time. Scary. I consider it an honor to be thinking like you. Thinking like Chief or Ashbury would give me much more pause.

Unless someone has invented a time machine, that seems like some kind of horrifying roller coaster ride. If Gilligan was alive, I would choose him. At least he had some contraband he could share with me to take the edge off of the evening's festivities.
