, not about, well, other stuff.

Hey now, you leave the game threads out of this!

:P

Just got back from watching the Twins leave 41 runners on base.

I am very pleased with the Stewart pick. Everything I read says this kid has a great attitude & all the tools.

In 2018 we may be chuckling at the teams who took Gray & Appel.

And I expect him in MLB sooner than that.

Unless hes good enough to make the NFL as a QB out of Texas A&M, Im sure he will sign and start the year in CR in 2014.

Forgot to address that.

If he skips signing with the Twins and goes to play football he is too stupid to want on your team.

$4 million vs. an opportunity to ruin your future? From what I've read he is a smart kid. He will sign.

Stewart is a very solid pick and it was the right one to make. This isn't a Hudson Boyd mistake, this is the real deal.

He is obviously behind Berrios, but I will put him in front of Baxendale.

And then the Twins made their second pick and made a big mistake . . .

Behind Berrios? He's ahead of everyone with the exception of maybe Meyer depending on how he finishes the season.

I was hoping one of the big three would fall, but we found out again a lot of the draft talk and rumors are smoke and mirrors. But can't really complain at all about this.

What I like from scanning the opinions out there, is that he has a 4-pitch mix already, and none of those pitches are an extreme work-in-progress, with 2 of them already being labelled as "plus". I also think being a QB-recruit helps him with the development of one of those pitches, the changeup, due to the similar pronating motions with the hand at release throwing a football. At least that is something I consider...

I think he slides in right behind Meyer at this point on the Twins prospect lists, ahead of Berrios pretty easily (I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves with Berrios, a great prospect for the Twins, but those expecting him to be an ace are going to end up disappointed).

'The Texas A&M Aggies picked up a big-time commitment on Monday with the pledge of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain quarterback Kyle Allen. A consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 4 pro-style passer in the nation by the 247Sports composite rankings, Allen is considered the top player in Arizona,Now Allen is the 12th commitment for the Aggies in the class of 2014 -- part of a group that now ranks among the absolute best in the nation -- and the second in less than 24 hours after a three-month spell between pledges. Allen helps secure the future of the quarterback position at the time when the Aggies are in serious danger of losing 2013 signee Kohl Stewart to the MLB Draft.'

I like the pick too. Stewart has such a short stride and upright delivery, looks like a candidate for some lower body adjustment. Maybe see him juice the velocity up further. The fact that he throws mid 90s with ease and appears to have a full arsenal is encouraging though.

ESPN ran this story - sound like it's all but signed sealed and delivered:

2013 MLB draft -- Kohl Stewart to sign with Minnesota Twins, passes up Texas A&M football - ESPN

Thanks for sharing the link. The Twins and Kohl's reps would have negotiated a price ahead of time, so they could know how much money they could work with later draft picks. The Twins would have left the door open though if one of the big three fell. So Stewart is being very honest when he says it wasn't a real option until he heard his name. The choice sounds easy for him after that. Only thing that would hold it off is if he failed his physical, but he sounds too confident for there to be any surprises there.
